UCLA junior Anna Pearson (Irvine, CA) led the team with 11 goals to help the Bruins open the season with wins over three ranked teams at the Cal Cup (Jan. 25-26). UCLA opened with a 17-8 win over No. 15 UC Davis with Pearson scoring a hat trick and drawing five exclusions and adding one steal. In the 12-7 win over No. 8 Long Beach State, she tallied two goals, two earned exclusions and one steal. UCLA closed the tournament with an 18-14 win over No. 9 Fresno State, with Pearson scoring a career-high six goals (on six shots) to go with three earned exclusions and one assist. For the weekend, she was 11-for-12 (.917) on shots, drew 10 exclusions, had two steals and one assist. This is the fourth career MPSF weekly award for Pearson.
