California senior Gia Fisher (Ross, CA) and junior Ava Haughy (Danville, CA) won all four of their matches at the East Meets West Invitational in Manhattan Beach (Mar. 13-14), including three against ranked opponents, and two over higher-ranked top-10 opponents. Playing as Cal’s No. 3 pair, Fisher and Haughy defeated pairs from No. 5 Texas, No. 8 Arizona State, No. 12 LSU and FIU. Their win over ASU’s Zoe Taylor/Arden Besecker handed the pair one of just two losses on the year (12-2). Cal won three dual matches at the invitational, over ASU, LSU, and FIU. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Fisher and Haughy.
