#2 STANFORD (8-1) defeated 14th-ranked Nebraska and fourth-ranked California to win the Stanford Open, taking first in three events. The Cardinal's victory was aided by their domination in the vault event, taking first (David Sender and Alex Buscaglia), second (Josh Dixon), and third (Greg Ter-Zakhariants). Sender once again shined for the Cardinal taking the outright title in high bar with a score of 15.500. Sender shared titles with Buscaglia in vault (15.850) and with Ter-Zakhariants in floor exercise (15.650). Sender also took second in rings (15.450). Sender's superb performance put him first in all-around (90.950).
#3 CALIFORNIA (2-1) took second at the Stanford Open on Saturday evening at Burnham Pavilion. The Bears excelled on pommel horse, where they took their first event of the night with 58.200 points. Junior Kyson Bunthuwong won with a 14.800 with seniors Tim McNeill and Colin Christ taking second and third, respectively. Senior Tyler Block helped Cal to a win on still rings, notching a meet-high 15.750. The Bears edged the Cardinal by .150 to take the event. Three-time NCAA Champion McNeill led the Bears to a win on parallel bars with his first-place performance, scoring a 15.750 on the event.
#6 OKLAHOMA (5-0) opened its home season in style, defeating No. 2 Michigan, 351.400-347.000. Freshman Steven Legendre claimed his third straight all-around title with an 85.850 and OU scored team season highs on rings (60.000), vault (63.000) and parallel bars (58.550) to earn a thrilling come-from-behind victory. Senior co-captain Jonathan Horton, competing for the first time in 2008, scored a 15.600 to take the rigs. Oklahoma claimed spots 2-7 in the vault to win the event and take back the lead. Horton claimed his second event title of the night on parallel bars, scoring a 15.150.
#12 NEBRASKA (2-4) finished third at the Stanford Open in front of a blaring crowd at the Burnham Pavilion on Saturday night. The Huskers scored a 333.85 on the night, while Stanford notched a 361.35 for top honors and California scored a 357.90 for second place. NU fell to a 0-6 all-time record against the Cardinal and a 1-4 all-time record against the Golden Bears. With Stanford and Cal's athletes in full force, Nebraska was unable to crack the top three in any event. However, several gymnastics earned career-high scores on the night. Daniel Brule and T.J. Schmidt set career highs on the parallel bars with scores of 14.65 and 14.95, respectively.
#16 AIRFORCE (0-4) did not compete last week.
