UCLA senior Gabrielle Domanic punched home the UC Irvine Invitational Championship with seven seconds left in sudden-victory overtime, as the top-ranked Bruins edged No. 2 Stanford 8-7. UCLA never trailed until 2:46 left in the second overtime. Senior Jillian Kraus knocked in a power play goal with 46 seconds left to tie it up at 7, and eventually making way for Domanic's winner. Junior Brittany Fullen stopped a career-high 15 shots, including five after regulation, and totaled 40 saves for the weekend. Other tournament wins for the Bruins were in the semi-final against No. 5 California (9-4), and No. 9 LMU (11-6) and No. 17 CS Northridge (12-4) on day one. The Bruins are 17-0 this year, but the overall win streak moves to 25 dating back to last year's national championship season. MPSF action resumes at UCSB Saturday (Mar. 1).

STANFORD was the runner-up in Irvine this past weekend with wins over No. 16 UC San Diego 11-3, No. 7 San Jose State 15-8, and No. 3 USC 7-6 (OT) in the semi-finals. The Cardinal erased a three-goal deficit in the final quarter against the Trojans to eventually send it to overtime and win it. Junior Koree Blyleven scored the game-winner in the second OT period with 2:01 left, her only goal of the game. Stanford hosts San Diego State and Arizona State in conference games this weekend (Mar. 1-2).

CALIFORNIA took third place with a 9-8 win over No. 3 USC, as sophomore Meghan Corso knocked in the game-winner at the 4:03 mark. Senior Heather Stuart tallied 12 saves in this game, and totaled 42 for the weekend. The No. 5 Bears also defeated No. 13 UCSB 7-2 and No. 4 Hawaii 11-9 in OT. Sophomore Grace Reynolds had four goals vs. Hawaii. UC Irvine and Long Beach State visit this weekend (Mar. 1-2).

USC won two games Saturday and lost two Sunday to finish fourth in Irvine. Sophomore Kally Lucas posted a hat trick in each of the wins over No. 11 UC Davis (12-1) and No. 15 Michigan (15-7). Junior Michelle Stein scored five goals vs. the Wolverines. The Trojans host Loyola Marymount Friday (Feb. 29) followed by MPSF action vs. CS Northridge Saturday (Mar. 1).

HAWAII finished fifth with a 7-6 win over No. 11 UC Davis. Junior Angela Turnbull scored a hat trick and freshman goalkeeper Serena Bredin stopped 10 shots vs. the Aggies. The Rainbow Wahine also edged No. 9 LMU 8-7 and No. 12 Long Beach State 10-6. Junior Kelly Mason scored one of her three goals against the Lions with 2:23 left in the fourth as the game-winner. Hawaii, who also won at Arizona State 13-12 in MPSF action, has won six games by one goal this year and will take this week off.

SAN JOSE STATE placed seventh with a win over No. 9 Loyola Marymount 8-7. The Spartans jumped out to a 4-0 lead in this game, and junior Juliet Moss ended up leading all players with four goals. San Jose State also picked up a win against host No. 10 UC Irvine, 12-3, with Moss netting a hat trick. Two MPSF home games are this week vs. ASU and San Diego State (Mar. 1-2).

SAN DIEGO STATE won three of four games in Irvine and took ninth with a 7-5 win over No. 8 Arizona State. Down 5-3 in the third quarter, the Aztecs scored the final four goals of the game. Junior Jenna Schuster scored four goals in an 11-9 win over No. 15 Michigan on day one. SDSU also beat host UCI 9-8, as Schuster added another hat trick. The Aztecs travel to Stanford and San Jose State for conference action this weekend (Mar. 1-2).

ARIZONA STATE split four games to finish 10th in Irvine. The Sun Devils defeated No. 17 CS Northridge 12-4 and No. 12 Long Beach State 12-8. Senior Caylinn Wallace combined for 19 saves in the wins, while junior Addison McGrath put in four goals vs. CSUN. In a mid-week MPSF home loss to Hawaii, McGrath set an all-time ASU record with seven goals in a game. Trips to San Jose State and Stanford are next up this weekend (Mar. 1-2).

UC IRVINE won two of four games in its invitational this past weekend, with wins coming against No. 16 UC San Diego 6-2 and No. 12 Long Beach State 8-5 in the 11th place game. Freshman Caitlin Haskell led all players with three goals vs. the 49ers. Senior Lauren Machanis collected 13 saves. The Anteaters head north to UC Davis, Cal, and Pacific this week (Feb. 29-Mar. 2).

LONG BEACH STATE took 12th after falling to host UC Irvine 8-5. Freshman Lauren Sieprath combined for five goals on day two against the Anteaters and Arizona State. The 49ers topped UC Santa Barbara 14-11 in overtime for their only win on the weekend. After giving up six fourth quarter goals, they scored three unanswered in the extra frame. Visits to UC Davis, Pacific, and California are this week (Mar. 1-Mar. 2).

CAL STATE NORTHRIDGE placed 14th, with a Saturday win over No. 13 UC Santa Barbara 8-7, followed by a tight loss to No. 15 Michigan 6-5. Senior Allison Brookes scored four goals in the loss to the Wolverines. The Matadors led the entire way in their win over the Gauchos. CSUN heads to USC for conference play Saturday (Mar. 1). PACIFIC went 1-3 over the weekend at the Sonoma State Tournament. The win came against Cal Lutheran (14-11) while the losses were to UC Santa Cruz (8-7), CS East Bay (12-7), and the host Sea Wolves (11-10). Senior Kellie Fletcher totaled 19 goals in four games. The Tigers host Long Beach State (Mar. 1) and UC Irvine (Mar. 2) as MPSF action continues this weekend.

UC SANTA BARBARA dropped an MPSF road game at UC Irvine 7-4, before coming up short in four UCI Invitational games. The Gauchos were edged 8-7 by No. 16 UC San Diego in the 15th place game. Top-ranked UCLA visits on Saturday (Mar. 1).

FULLEN NAMED MPSF MIKASA PLAYER OF THE WEEK Woodland, Calif. - UCLA junior goalkeeper Brittany Fullen (San Clemente, CA/Corona Del Mar HS) totaled 40 saves in four games to help lift the No. 1 Bruins to the UC Irvine Invitational Championship this past weekend. Most impressively, she stopped a career-high 15 shots in the sudden-victory title game win over Stanford, including five in the overtime periods. She also tallied 11 saves in the semi-final against California. Fullen only allowed 21 goals all weekend (5.25 GAA), and now owns a season goals-against average of 5.18. She becomes the third MPSF goalkeeper to earn conference player of the week honors in 2008.
