#2 OKLAHOMA (13-1) held on for a 357.850-356.650 victory over the third-ranked Nittany Lions. The OU lineup required some major adjustment after senior co-captain Jonathan Horton was injured during warm-ups on the high bar. The reigning MPSF Gymnast of the Week was still able to compete on two events, winning his fourth title of the season on rings (15.550). As a team, Oklahoma claimed event wins on floor exercise (61.850), rings (60.350), vault (62.550) and parallel bars (60.650). Freshman Steven Legendre won his team-leading sixth floor crown of the year, tying his career and program best with a 15.800. The Port Jefferson, N.Y., native also tied for first on vault with Penn State All-American Casey Sandy (16.050). Junior Chris Brooks picked up his first win of the year on parallel bars with a career-high 15.350, as OU swept the top four places on the event. In addition to his runner-up finish on p-bars, Abdullah-Simmons, who won the NCAA all-around title in his last visit to Rec Hall, chipped in with a second-place showing on rings (15.500) and tied for third on the high bar (14.600).
#4 CALIFORNIA (6-5) did not compete last week. The Golden Bears will next compete at the MPSF championship on April 5.
#9 NEBRASKA (5-8) ended its regular season with a 353.650-335.100 victory over No. 15 Air Force. Nebraska took top honors on five events, four of which saw the Huskers in all three top spots. Also, for the second time this season, NU claimed the top-two spots on the all-around. Sophomore Kyle Shanahan captured the all-around title for the second week in a row, posting a career-high 87.45 on the event. Shanahan also captured his second high bar title of the year with a career-high score of 15.10. Sophomore all-arounder John Robinson also did an impressive job at the meet, claiming his second first-place title on vault (16.00) before finishing second in the all-around with a career-high of 86.30. Freshman David Spitdowski earned his first event title of his career on floor exercise with a career-high score of 15.20, while junior T.J. #15 AIR FORCE (4-14) wrapped up the regular season with a 353.650-335.100 decision to Nebraska. The Falcons' combined score of 335.100 was the third-best of the season. Junior Jacob Schonig won the still rings and sophomore Garrett Canter set an Academy record on the pommel horse for the Academy. Schonig's winning tally of 15.650 is the second-best mark in Academy history, falling just .050 shy of the program record. Canter improved his career-best mark by nearly .500, as he scored an Academy-record tally of 13.800. That score is a program standard by .200, breaking the previous mark that was set at their last meet. Senior Greg Stine, who finished second on the high bar with a score of 14.550, was the Falcons' top scorer on the floor exercise and parallel bars. He tallied a score of 14.500 to take sixth on the floor, while posting 14.250 on the parallel bars. In addition, he tied for fifth on the still rings (14.650).
