DENVER scored the first three goals of Saturday's game at Oregon, and would never be caught, as the Pioneers won a big opening MPSF game at No. 16 Oregon 13-12. Senior Megan Carver, Junior Karen Morton, and sophomore Ali Flury all recorded hat tricks. Carver was the point-leader with five. Senior MPSF assist leader Steph Coyne dished out three. Senior goalkeeper Becky Childs stopped seven shots in the second half, totaling nine on the day, and held off a strong Oregon comeback. The Pioneers visit George Washington Sunday (Apr. 13).

CALIFORNIA turned in an outstanding MPSF road weekend, defeating St. Mary's 15-2 and UC Davis 21-10. The first-place Bears opened up an 11-9 halftime lead in Davis into an 18-9 advantage in the first 22 minutes of the second half. Cal also had a 10-1 run over the second 30-minute frame. Senior Brittany Aungier knocked in six goals and senior Danni Zuralow had four. Sophomore Alyse Kennedy was the point-leader with a career-high eight on three goals and five assists. Kennedy's five assists ties the Cal single-game record set twice in 2004. Twelve Bears' scored in Moraga, highlighted by Zuralow's hat trick. Cal stays on the road, visiting Oregon Saturday (Apr. 12) in another conference game.

STANFORD picked up a 20-3 MPSF home win over St. Mary's last Friday, before coming up short to No.11 Boston U 14-11. Amanda Schwab and Emily Layden each scored four times in the win. Senior goalkeeper Laura Shane collected 13 saves in the loss, while Karen Nesbitt came off the bench to record three goals and one assist. The No. 20 Cardinal head to Albany, NY to face Vermont Saturday (Apr. 12), followed by a visit to Ithaca to meet Cornell Sunday (Apr. 13).

OREGON was edged 13-12 by Denver in Eugene Saturday. The Ducks made a strong second half comeback, finishing on a 7-3 run in the final 15 minutes, before time expired in a one-goal defeat. Junior Ilsa van den Berg and freshman Alex Breiner each scored three goals, while junior goalkeeper Anna Poponyak registered 11 saves. MPSF action continues for No. 19 Oregon at home this weekend as California and St. Mary's visit (Apr. 12-13).

UC DAVIS hung tough in the first half at home Saturday against first-place California, before dropping a 21-10 MPSF decision. The Aggies in fact had a 7-6 lead after 22 minutes of action, and only trailed 11-9 at the half. Senior Katie McMahon scored a team-high five points on four goals and one assist. Senior goalkeeper Hilary Harkins tallied eight of her nine saves in the second half. UC Davis steps outside the conference Saturday (Apr. 12) and travels to Cincinnati.

ST. MARY'S dropped a pair of MPSF games, 15-2 at home to California and 20-3 at No. 18 Stanford. Junior PJ Hainley scored twice in Palo Alto. The Gaels visit Oregon Sunday (Apr. 13) in another conference game.

KENNEDY NAMED MPSF PLAYER OF THE WEEK Woodland, Calif. - California sophomore Alyse Kennedy (Scituate, MA) combined for four goals and six assists in a pair of MPSF wins at UC Davis and St. Mary's. She tallied a career-high eight points in Davis, with a career-high of five assists tying a single-game Cal record, set twice in 2004. The eight-point game also ties Kennedy for second on Cal's all-time single-game list with former teammates Liz Reifsnyder and Jocelyn Paul. The Bears are off to a 3-0 start in conference action.
