Woodland, Calif. - MPSF Executive Director, Al Beaird today announced the 2008 MPSF Men's Gymnast and Coaches of the Year honorees as voted by the Federation's head coaches.

Jonathan Horton of Oklahoma is the gymnasts of the year while Barry Weiner of California and Mark Williams of Oklahoma are the co-head coaches of the year.

Horton claimed his third consecutive MPSF Gymnast of the Year Award after winning the conference all-around title for the third time in four years with a score of 90.500. The Houston, Texas, native also won the conference rings title for the fourth time with a 16.000 and tied for third on vault (16.100) and was fourth on floor (15.500) as the Sooners won the league crown for the fourth straight season.

Earning his fifth MPSF Coach of the Year award, Weiner is credited with developing the University of California men's gymnastics program into one of the nation's finest. He led the Golden Bears to national championships in 1997 and 1998 and has produced a total of eight Top 5 national finishes, including a fifth place finish in 2006, and 11 NCAA individual championships in his sixteen previous seasons at Cal.

A four-time National Coach of the Year, Oklahoma head coach Mark Williams earns his eighth MPSF honor in nine years after leading the Sooners to the program's 17th conference title and ninth MPSF crown in the last 10 years. During his tenure, Oklahoma has lost to conference rivals only three times. Williams' 2008 squad has compiled an impressive 18-1 record and a No. 2 national ranking.
