Team Competition Breaks for Annual Las Vegas Winter Cup

#16 AIR FORCE (2-7) once again set a season-high team mark (329.1) in easily defeating service academy rival Army at home this past Saturday. The Falcons claimed five of six individual event titles, while setting an all-time program record on vault (60.95), led by freshman Joel Uptmor's top finish (15.5). This was on the heels of his Academy record score last week on the apparatus (15.55). Sophomore Nash Mills won the All-Around with a career-high (81.35), taking the parallel bars title in the process (13.95). Freshman Chase Nobles won the pommel horse (13.35) and senior Jake Schonig registered a meet-best on still rings (14.8). Sophomore Aaron Zaiser dominated the floor with a career-high (14.95), also the fifth-best floor score in Air Force history. He also took second on vault (15.4) and parallel bars (13.85). After a week off, the Falcons partake in the All-Academy Championships in Portland, OR, on Feb. 14, meeting up again with Army and Navy.

#1 OKLAHOMA (3-0) hosted club squad Texas Saturday and posted a team score of 349.050. The Sooners won all six events, with senior Chris Brooks setting an all-time school record on vault (16.45), topping the old mark of 16.400. He also claimed the high bar title (15.1). Select OU gymnasts will partake in the Winter Cup in Las Vegas, NV this week (Feb. 5-7). The next team competition will be Feb. 21 at home against nationally-ranked Iowa.

#2 CALIFORNIA (3-0) was off this past week and last time out placed first of three teams (356.45) at the Stanford Open, ahead of No. 6 Stanford and No. 8 Nebraska. The Bears were led by sophomore Kyle Bunthuwong who won the All-Around title with a career-high (88.7). He also placed third on the floor (15.2) which was also a career-best. Freshman Glen Ishino won the pommel horse (15.4), leading Cal's team win on that event by over six points. Kyson Bunthuwong took first on the parallel bars (15.1). Individual Bears compete at the Las Vegas Winter Cup this week.

#7 STANFORD (1-2) was off this past week and was last in action at the Stanford Open Jan. 24 and finished ahead of No. 8 Nebraska and behind No. 4 California. The Cardinal recorded a team score of 352.3. Sophomore Tim Gentry won two event titles on the still rings (15.1) and vault (16.05). Greg Ter-Zakhariants won the floor (15.6) and sophomore Josh Dixon placed third All-Around (86.8). Selected Stanford gymnasts will individually compete at the Winter Cup in Las Vegas this week.

#9 NEBRASKA (1-4) was off this past week, and last scored a 334.7 to place third at the Stanford Open Jan. 24. Senior All-American T.J. Schmidt turned in a third-place finish on the pommel horse (14.55), while junior John Robinson recorded a fifth-place all-around score (82.65). The Huskers step away from team competition until Feb. 14, when they face Minnesota and host Iowa in a tri-meet in Iowa City, IA. Schmidt, however, will partake in this week's Winter Cup in Las Vegas.

NASH MILLS MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
Woodland, Calif. - Air Force sophomore Nash Mills (Coto De Caza, CA) won the parallel bars (13.95) and All-Around titles (81.350) with career-highs on both, leading the Falcons to their first win over Army in their last five attempts at home. He also finished second on the high bar and set personal-highs on vault (15.000) and pommel horse (12.300). Mills placed in the top-five in every event in this meet.
