Oklahoma Upends Stanford and Minnesota

#2 OKLAHOMA (7-0) won a tri-meet at Minnesota this past Saturday with a score of 357.85, placing ahead of the host Gophers and top-ranked Stanford. Event titles belonged to Chris Brooks on high bar (15.1), in addition to the All-Around (90.2), Steven Legendre on vault (16.2), and Jake Messina on pommel horse (14.7). Brooks took second on floor (15.6) and third on parallel bars (14.9). Messina placed second on still rings (15.0), with Brooks in third (14.85). Legendre was the All-Around runner-up (88.95). The undefeated Sooners are next in action in a home dual meet with Ohio State Saturday (Mar. 14).

#1 STANFORD (7-4) placed second (356.4) to defending NCAA Champion Oklahoma, and ahead of host No. 7 Minnesota in a tri meet in Minneapolis. Three Cardinal gymnasts won event titles, including Josh Dixon on floor (15.75), Sho Nakamori on parallel bars (15.25), and Tim Gentry on still rings (15.05). Second-place finishes belonged to Gentry on vault (16.15) and Greg Ter-Zakhariants on high bar (15.05). Dixon came in third on high bar (14.95). Stanford is off until March 28, when Illinois-Chicago visits.

#3 CALIFORNIA (9-1) improved to 9-1 with a dual meet win over No. 6 Ohio State this past Friday in Berkeley. Kyson Bunthuwong won three events plus the All-Around (88.8). He took the vault (15.65), parallel bars (15.0), and high bar (15.0) titles. Kyle Bunthuwong won floor (15.2), Glen Ishino won the pommel horse (15.1), and Kyle Brady claimed the stills rings event (14.9). Ishino also took second All-Around (87.4) and high bar (14.75), and third on bars (14.7). The Bears head to Penn State Saturday (Mar. 14) for a dual meet with the Nittany Lions.

#9 NEBRASKA (2-6) was off this past week and competes Sunday (Mar.15) when Arizona State and Minnesota visit in a tri-meet.

#15 AIR FORCE (4-12) was off this past week and is next in action on March 20.

KYSON BUNTHUWONG MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
Woodland, Calif. - California senior Kyson Bunthuwong (El Cerrito, CA) won three event titles, plus the All-Around, lifting California to a dual meet win over No. 6 Ohio State on senior night. His titles came on high bar (15.0), parallel bars (15.0), and vault (15.65), in addition to his top All-Around mark (88.8) in a career-high.
