STANFORD (2-0 MPSF, 12-1 overall) won a 16-8 MPSF contest at home over No. 8 San Jose State this past Saturday. The Cardinal raced out to a 7-1 second quarter advantage. Kelly Eaton, Alex Koran, and Melissa Seidemann all scored three goals for the nation's top-ranked team. Stanford will be on the road for the entire month of March, beginning with a trip to Arizona State Saturday (Mar. 7) in conference action, and UC Davis Sunday (Mar. 8) to face the host Aggies and CS Bakersfield.

USC (1-0 MPSF, 11-1 overall) won its MPSF opener 14-4 at No. 7 California last Saturday. Up 7-4 at the half, the Trojans posted a 7-0 second-half run. Kami Craig recorded the game's lone hat trick. Kally Lucas and Joelle Bekhazi scored two goals apiece. Tumua Anae stopped 11 shots in the cage and notched a second-half shutout. Long Beach State visits Friday (Mar. 6), followed by San Jose State in conference play Saturday (Mar. 7).

UCLA (3-0 MPSF, 12-3 overall) improved to 3-0 in the conference with a 10-5 win at No. 6 Arizona State this past Saturday. The Bruins were led by Tanya Gandy's hat trick, scoring two first quarter goals to give her team a quick start. UCLA hosts California Saturday (Mar. 7) in MPSF action, followed by a visit to Cal Lutheran to face the host Lancers and CS Northridge Sunday (Mar. 8).

SAN DIEGO STATE (0-1 MPSF, 10-3 overall) was edged by No. 10 UC Irvine at home Saturday, 14-13 in overtime. Junior Ronni Gautschi scored four goals, while senior Anna Gonzales added three. Freshman goalkeeper Kelli Campoli posted 10 saves. The Aztecs recovered on Sunday with a 12-8 win over Long Beach State, as Gonzales led with four goals. Campoli had 13 saves. The Aztecs compete at the Cal Lutheran Tournament Friday (Mar. 6), followed by the UC Santa Barbara Tournament (Mar. 7-8).

ARIZONA STATE (0-1 MPSF, 9-6 overall) fell 10-5 at home Saturday to No. 3 UCLA. Sophomore Nikki Unbehaun scored twice and freshman goalkeeper Dana Harvey tallied eight saves. The Sun Devils host top-ranked Stanford Saturday (Mar. 7) in another MPSF contest.

CALIFORNIA (1-1 MPSF, 15-3 overall) lost 14-4 in its MPSF home opener Saturday against No. 2 USC. Stephanie Schnugg scored twice for the Bears. Cal heads to Southern California this weekend, partaking in the Cal Lutheran Tournament Friday (Mar. 6) and Sunday (Mar. 8), while visiting UCLA in MPSF play in between (Mar. 7).

SAN JOSE STATE (1-2 MPSF, 8-9 overall) dropped a 16-8 MPSF game at top-ranked Stanford last Saturday. Three Spartans' scored two goals each, including Dani Curran, Juliet Moss, and Tanya Torres. SJSU heads to No. 2 USC Saturday (Mar. 7).

HAWAII (0-3 MPSF, 8-6 overall) was off this past week and does not compete until March 11 when Arizona State visits.

TUMUA ANAE MPSF MIKASA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Woodland, Calif. - USC junior goalkeeper Tumua Anae (Newport Beach, CA/Coronal Del Mar HS) picked up 11 saves and a second half shutout as the No. 2 Trojans won at No. 7 California in MPSF action. She allowed just four goals to a team that was 15-2 and averaging nearly 13 goals per game. Within her second half shutout, Anae stopped a five-meter penalty shot in the third quarter. This was just her second full game back after suffering early season injuries.
