Oregon Travels to Denver for Key MPSF Game

NO. 20 DENVER (2-0 MPSF, 8-4 overall) held off California 11-10 in an MPSF contest at home Saturday. Ali Flury and Steph Coyne recorded three goals each, while Megan Carver scored once and dished out a pair of assists. The Pioneers have cracked the Top-20 national poll this week and host Oregon Saturday in another conference game.

OREGON (2-1 MPSF, 8-3 overall) won two of three on the road last week, edging Brown (10-9) and Le Moyne (17-11), while coming up just short of Delaware (6-5). In Providence, the Ducks scored three straight goals in the final 3:18 for the comeback win. Jana Drummond had four goals and her sister Jess added three. NO. 16 STANFORD (4-0 MPSF, 7-3 overall) used a 7-4 first-half en route to a 10-7 road win at Johns Hopkins last Friday. Sarah Flynn nailed a hat trick and Annie Reed collected 10 saves in goal. The No.15 Cardinal battled No. 2 Maryland on Sunday in a 20-12 loss. Julie Christy had five goals and Reed was credited with nine saves. Stanford is off this week.

UC DAVIS (2-3 MPSF, 3-8 overall) pulled out a road win at Central Connecticut State last Thursday, 9-7. Three Aggies' scored, led by Britt Farquharson's four, followed by Patrice Clark with three and Jacklyn Taylor with two. Molly Lapolla had two assists. Alyssa Cranska registered 10 saves in goal. UC Davis, who also fell short at Manhattan last Tuesday (14-10) heads east to Villanova Saturday (Apr. 4) and Howard Monday (Apr. 6).

CALIFORNIA (2-1 MPSF, 4-8 overall) was edged 11-10 at Denver in an MPSF contest last Saturday. Alyse Kennedy came off the bench to score five points on three goals and two assists, all in the second-half. Morgan Dyson picked up 16 saves, third highest amongst all MPSF goalkeepers this year. The Bears host St. Mary's Wednesday (Apr. 1) in conference action, before traveling to the nation's top-ranked team, Northwestern Sunday (Apr. 5).

FRESNO STATE (0-4 MPSF, 0-8 overall) dropped contests at Cincinnati (18-3), Detroit (17-3), and Presbyterian (18-8). The eight goals in the final game of the road trip was a team-high for the first-year Bulldogs. Additionally, Heather Jack scored five goals, also an individual single-game high for FSU. St. Mary's visits Fresno Saturday (Apr. 4) in conference action.

ST. MARY'S (0-3 MPSF, 1-7 overall) was off this past week. The Gaels resume conference action at California Wednesday (Apr. 1) and Fresno State Saturday (Apr. 4).

CARVER AND FLYNN MPSF PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Woodland, Calif. -Denver senior attacker Megan Carver (Baltimore, MD/Seton Keough HS) scored one goal, the eventual game-winner, and dished out two assists as the Pioneers won an MPSF home game over California, 11-10. Carver added three draw controls and two caused turnovers. She moved into fifth-place on Denver's all-time points list with 181 in the process.

Woodland, Calif. -Stanford sophomore attacker Sarah Flynn (Baltimore, MD/Towson HS) nailed a hat trick in a 10-7 win at Johns Hopkins. She then added a pair of goals at second-ranked Maryland for a five-goal week in her home state.
