2009 MPSF Gymnast of the Year
SHO NAKAMORI - SENIOR - STANFORD -ALBANY, CA - ALBANY HS
Sho has had an exceptional gymnastics career at Stanford and in international competitions. Sho is a five-time NCAA All-American, earning two awards in 2006 on floor exercise and in all-around, the same year that he captured second place in floor exercise at the NCAA Individual Event Finals, and three awards in 2008 in all-around and on pommel horse and parallel bars. Sho took third in all-around and horse, and finished sixth on parallel bars in 2008. Sho's collegiate high marks are 9.6 in floor, 9.45 in pommel horse, 9.2 in still rings, 9.55 in parallel bars, 9.65 in horizontal bar, and 56.05 in all-around. His career-highs since scoring was changed to the FIG system are 15.450 on floor, 15.250 on pommel horse, 15.400 on still rings, 15.550 on vault, 15.6 on parallel bars, 15.400 on horizontal bar, and 91.85 in all-around. His 15.6 on parallel bars and 91.85 in all-around are all-time team bests. Sho was recently named to the Senior Men's National Team for the third consecutive year, is a 2-time World Cup team member, and was a part of the World Championship Team in 2007. Sho is also a two-time MPSF Academic All-Conference award recipient and a 2008 CGA Academic All-American. Sho has worked as a research assistant in the Naval Postgraduate School specializing on the state of Japanese politics and helped tutor both school children and graduate students at Stanford in Japanese as well as various subjects. Sho also likes to coach young gymnasts and has also spent time working as a judge for youth tournaments. He has also volunteered at the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and with Relay For Life.

THOM GLIELMI - HEAD COACH - STANFORD - SEVENTH YEAR
Thom Glielmi guided Stanford to an MPSF Championship in his seventh season as head coach of the men's gymnastics team. A two-time NCAA West Region Head Coach of the Year from 2006-07, Glielmi has coached ten NCAA Champions and 46 All-Americans. Last season Glielmi lead the Cardinal to its third consecutive top-three finish at the NCAA Championships, taking second just .45 points behind champion Oklahoma, and produced a single-season school record of 15 All-Americans. Prior to taking over the men's team at Stanford, Glielmi spent three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of Minnesota and guided the team to a No. 7 finish during his last season in Minnesota. While with the Golden Gophers, Glielmi was named the 2000-01 NCAA Assistant Coach of the Year after coaching the 2001 NCAA pommel horse and floor exercise champion. Glielmi has produced NCAA national champions on vault, rings, pommel horse, floor exercise and horizontal bar. Glielmi is involved on many levels of the sport from the grass roots level to the international elite. He is an FIG Brevet judge, an Executive Board Member to USA-Gymnastics (the governing body of gymnastics), and is also on the NCAA Rules Committee for the men's program. A USA Senior National Team Coach for ten years, Glielmi was a member of the 2006 and 2007 USA World Championships Team Coaching Staff. As head coach of the 2003 USA Pan American team he lead them to a bronze medal-winning competition. Additionally, he was part of the 2000 USA Olympic Team coaching staff.
