NO. 13 STANFORD (6-0 MPSF, 14-4 overall) defeated Louisville last Thursday in its final home game, 14-12, before traveling to third-ranked Penn and stunning last year's national finalist, 8-6. These two season-ending wins were on the heels of the fifth straight MPSF Championship for the Cardinal. Stanford opened up a 10-1 lead over the Cardinals before hanging on to a two-goal outcome. Dana Lindsay scored four goals and Claire Hubbard dished five assists. Sunday, Stanford received three goals and one assist from Lauren Schmidt and 11 saves from Annie Read in goal in one of the program's most impressive wins ever. Stanford also beat then No. 6 Penn last year at home by the same 8-6 final. Fourteen wins this year equals a single-season team record.

UC DAVIS (2-4 MPSF, 6-12 overall) lost 17-11 at home to Louisville to conclude its season Friday. Molly Lapolla and Britt Farquharson socred four goals each. Christina Corsa added one goal and two assists and Molly Peterson had six groundballs. The Aggies finish 6-12 this year, highlighted by a quarterfinal upset victory at the MPSF Tournament.

DENVER (4-2 MPSF, 10-8 overall) dropped its 2009 finale at No. 15 Loyola (MD), 19-16. Lexi Sanders and Kaiti Delaney scored four goals apiece. Steph Coyne added two goals and two assists, increasing her Pioneer record to 132 career assists. All-MPSF selection Karen Morton added a pair of goals to end her career with a DU all-time record of 190. She also leaves the Pioneers as their career leader in points (255), draw controls (162), and caused turnovers (106).

CALIFORNIA (4-2 MPSF, 8-11 overall) reached the championship game of the MPSF Tournament as the No. 3 seed, defeating No. 6 St. Mary's 17-6 and No. 2 Oregon 10-9, before the finals loss to Stanford. All-tournament honoree Alyse Kennedy scored a career-high six goals against the Gaels, while Sam Price delivered four assists in that game. Allie Welsh scored her first career hat trick. Kennedy added a pair of goals in the semifinal win over the Ducks and Morgan Dyson picked up 14 saves in goal. Alex Tickner scored five goals and had one assist in the title game en route to an all-tournament performance. Defender DennaFaye Herald was honored on that list as well.

OREGON (4-2 MPSF, 12-5 overall) defeated Fresno State19-2 in the MPSF quarterfinal, before coming up just short of California 10-9 in the semi-final round. Bina Barrett tallied a game-high six points against the Bulldogs, on three goals and three assists. MPSF newcomer of the year Jana Drummond delivered a hat trick as did Kaitlyn Pasko. All-conference and tournament honoree Ilsa van den Berg had two goals and one assist vs. Cal. Casey Rector also made the al-tourney list. The Ducks, 12-5 overall, tied for second in the conference race.

ST. MARY'S (1-5 MPSF, 3-13 overall) senior goalkeeper Hilary Gardner recorded 14 saves in her final outing, as the Gaels dropped a 17-6 MPSF quarterfinal game to California in their final game. PJ Hainley scored twice while Dana Elfvin had one goal and one assist. Hainley was named to the MPSF All-Tournament team.

FRESNO STATE (0-6 MPSF, 0-14 overall) lost to No. 2 seed Oregon, 19-2, in the MPSF quarterfinal round in Palo Alto. Heather Jack and Callie Seidman were responsible for the first two goals in the Bulldogs' first-ever postseason appearance. Sophomore defender Christina Cabias was named to the all-tournament team.

NESBITT AND COYNE MPSF PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Woodland, Calif. -Stanford senior midfielder Jamie Nesbitt (Cincinnati, OH/Sycamore HS) totaled eight draw controls, four in each game, as the Cardinal defeated Louisville at home and shocked third-ranked Penn on the road. Nesbitt added two goals, one assist, and three caused turnovers in the win over the Cardinals in addition to the key draw control with 1:08 left that enabled Stanford to run out the clock.

Woodland, Calif. -Denver senior attacker Steph Coyne (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr HS) tallied two goals and two assists in the narrow loss at No. 14 Loyola (MD). All four of her points were recorded in the final 26 minutes of the game to keep the pressure on the Greyhounds. Coyne leaves the Pioneers with a school-record 132 career assists, also ranking in the top-10 in NCAA history.
