MPSF Breaks for Annual Winter Cup

#9 NEBRASKA (2-2) finished second of three last Saturday at Minnesota, with a team score of 342.400. John Robinson recorded career-efforts on floor (14.85), horse (14.15), and parallel bars (14.60), while winning titles on the bars and All-Around (86.20). Kyle Shanahan won titles on floor (15.20) and high bar (14.65). Anthony Ingrelli took the top spot on the rings with a season-high (14.70). Robinson and Shanahan will represent the Huskers at the Las Vegas Winter Cup Thursday-Saturday (Feb. 4-6).
#13 AIR FORCE (0-4) junior Nash Mills tied the all-time Academy record on vault (15.85), leading a new team record on that event (62.200), as the Falcons placed third to Nebraska and host Minnesota with a season-high team score (329.800). Mills was third on vault, while sophomore Joel Uptmor tied for fourth on rings with a career-high (14.30). Mills, Uptmor, and Tory Brown will represent Air Force at the Las Vegas Winter Cup (Feb. 4-6).
#3 STANFORD (2-0) freshman Eddie Penev took the top score on both vault (15.7) and floor (15.4) in a non-team scored meet against California last Saturday. John Martin had the high Cardinal score on parallel bars (14.55) and pommel horse (13.7). James Fosco had the top effort on rings (14.75), while Cameron Foreman turned in the top team high bar score (14.6). Select Stanford gymnasts compete at this week's Winter Cup.
#18 CALIFORNIA (0-2) recorded two individual event titles at the Stanford Open. Kyle Bunthwong took the high bar title (15.05), while Glen Ishino led a top-three sweep for the Bears on pommel horse (15.2). Donothan Bailey (14.15) and Bunthwong (14.10) followed on that event. Select Bears partake in the Winter Cup this week.
#4 OKLAHOMA (3-0) had its home meet canceled against club squad Texas this past weekend due to poor weather. The Sooners compete at the Winter Cup this week, before team competition resumes the following week.
JOHN ROBINSON MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
Nebraska senior John Robinson (Charlotte, NC) won titles on the All-Around (86.200) and parallel bars (14.60), leading the Huskers to second place at Minnesota. He was also second on horse (14.15), fourth on rings (14.30), and seventh on floor (14.85). His efforts on the bars, floor, and horse were all career-bests. Also Nominated: Nash Mills (AFA)
