UC DAVIS (1-0 MPSF, 1-0 overall) earned a big win to begin the season, 12-10 at home over California in MPSF action last Saturday. The outcome marked the first win for the Aggies over the Bears since 2001, a span of 13 games. Eight different players scored, led by two goals apiece from Britt Farquharson, Gina Hoffmire, Hannah Mirza, and Anna Geissbuhler. Christina Corsa delivered three assists in addition to a goal. UC Davis hosts St. Mary's Saturday (Feb. 27) in a non-conference game.

OREGON (0-0 MPSF, 2-0 overall) went on an 11-1 scoring rampage in the second half in its home opener against St. Bonaventure on Sunday, en route to a 22-8 win. The Ducks were on the heels of matching their highest scoring total in team history with a 22-6 win at Jacksonville in the season opener, before putting away as many goals in game two. Alex Breiner scored four goals. Oregon heads east this weekend, taking on fourth-ranked North Carolina and 19th-ranked William & Mary (Feb. 26 & 28).

DENVER (1-0 MPSF, 3-2 overall) won its home opener over Stony Brook last Thursday, 14-4. Duquesne Monday (Feb. 22). Bonnie Wells delivered a game-high four goals, while Ali Flury extended her nation-leading consecutive point streak to 55 games by adding a hat trick. Lexi Sanders dished five assists for a game-high five points. Monday, Denver blasted Duquesne, 20-6, as Kara Secora had four goals and Flury added another hat trick. The Pioneers continue their six-game homestand against Mt. St. Mary's Sunday (Feb. 28).

#14 STANFORD (0-0 MPSF, 1-1 overall) split two games in Syracuse, NY, to start its season, defeating Le Moyne 16-9 and losing to No. 7 Syracuse 16-7. The No. 12 Cardinal scored seven unanswered goals after an early 1-1 tie in Friday's win. Sarah Flynn scored five goals along with an assist and Dana Lindsay, Karen Nesbitt, and Lauren Schmidt each recorded two goals and one assist. Stanford hosts top-ranked Northwestern Friday (Feb. 26) and Ohio State Sunday (Feb. 28).

ST. MARY'S (0-1 MPSF, 1-2 overall) had four goals from Mariah Walk and three apiece from Abbie Coleman, Caroline Mahony, and Juliet Munroe, in a 15-13 win at Long Island Sunday. Kathleen Worsdale collected 11 saves in goal. She also had 11 saves in the Gaels' 21-3 loss at Hofstra Friday. St. Mary's heads to UC Davis Saturday in non-conference action.

CALIFORNIA (0-1 MPSF, 0-1 overall) came up short in its MPSF and season opener, 12-10 at UC Davis last Saturday. Alysse Kennedy recorded three goals and two assists, while Allie Welsh also delivered a hat trick. Tara Arolla scored twice and dished one assist. Goalkeeper Allie Shropshire collected 10 saves in a complete game. The Bears begin a four-game homestand Friday against Ohio State Friday (Feb. 26), followed by a meeting with top-ranked Northwestern Sunday (Feb. 28).

FRESNO STATE (0-0 MPSF, 0-0 overall) will play its first five games on the road, beginning Friday (Feb. 26) at La Salle and Sunday (Feb. 28) at Villanova. The Bulldogs return top '09 scorer in junior Heather Jack, who totaled 11 goals, 11 points, in addition to ranking second on the team with 18 ground balls. Senior Krisdina Gehring also returns, leading the team a year ago in groundballs (22) and caused turnovers (13).

CHRISTINA CORSA MPSF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
UC Davis junior midfielder Christina Corsa (Danville, CA/Monte Vista HS) scored one goal and dished three assists for a team-high four points, leading her team to its first win over California since 2001. Corsa added two ground balls, two steals, and five draw controls in the 2010 season and conference opener.
