MPSF Excels at Winter Cup; Team Action Resumes

#3 OKLAHOMA (3-0) claimed five of the 15 available spots for the US Senior National Team roster this past week at the Las Vegas Winter Cup, more than any other NCAA Division I school. Steven Legendre finished sixth all-around (170.550), along with a top two-day floor (30.900) and vault (32.550) scores. Freshman Alex Naddour placed seventh on the final night (85.000) and is a new national team member. Freshman Jake Dalton hit a floor score of 15.550 and vault of 16.150 on night two to make the team. He also finished with an 84.100 all-around Saturday. The Sooners return to team competition at home Saturday, taking on MPSF rival Nebraska in a dual meet.
#4 STANFORD (2-0) was led by Tim Gentry at the Winter Cup, placing fifth all-around (170.800) and earning a spot on the US Senior National Team. Gentry was also third on rings (15.10) and seventh on floor (29.35). Alex Buscaglia placed 24th all-around (162.55) and was fifth on vault (16.0, 15.85) and sixth on high bar (28.35). Ryan Lieberman was 11th on parallel bars and 27th all-around. The Cardinal competes in the Gold Country Classic Saturday (Feb. 13) in Livermore, CA.
#9 NEBRASKA (2-2) seniors Kyle Shanahan and John Robinson combined for nine top-30 outcomes at the Winter Cup on Saturday. Shanahan placed 23rd all-around (162.600) and on horse (26.35), and 22nd on floor (27.85), rings (27.05), and high bar (26.70). Robinson took 30th all-around (149.700), with his best performance coming on parallel bars (27.70) in a 14th-place finish. He also turned in an 18th-place vault (30.60) and 21st-place rings (27.25). The Huskers resume team action at Oklahoma in an MPSF dual meet Saturday.
#13 AIR FORCE (0-4) freshman Tory Brown finished eighth on vault (15.60) in the preliminary round in Las Vegas. Sophomore Joel Uptmor was 13th on the same event (15.40). Brown also picked up a 12.10 on parallel bars, for No. 25 overall. The Falcons compete in the All-Academy Championships Saturday in Aliso Viejo, CA.
#18 CALIFORNIA (0-2) senior Bryan Del Castillo placed eighth on horse (28.400), 16th on vault (30.700) and 36th on floor (13.600) in Las Vegas. Kyle Bunthuwong and Glen Ishino did not compete, though successfully petitioned for spots on the US Senior National Team. The Bears compete Saturday (Feb. 13) at the Gold Country Classic.

Stanford junior Tim Gentry (Plano, TX) earned a spot on the US Senior National Team as one of the top performers at the Las Vegas Winter Cup.
