ST. MARY'S (0-1 MPSF, 2-3 overall) knocked off Detroit at home last Tuesday, 21-15. The 21 goals is an all-time record for St. Mary's women's lacrosse. The Gaels raced out to a 4-0 lead within the first six minutes and was never caught. Caroline Mahoney, Abbie Coleman, Amy Daniels, and Katie Nelson all recorded four goals. Juliet Munroe scored twice and caused five turnovers. SMC hosts Iona Tuesday (Mar. 16).

FRESNO STATE (0-0 MPSF, 0-5 overall) began a five-game home stretch against Detroit last Thursday, coming up short 18-13. Amanda Cross turned in a record night for the Bulldogs, in their one-plus years of existence. She had four goals, two assists, seven ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Sara Weber added a hat trick and six ground balls. The 13 Bulldog goals proved to be an all-time team-high. Fresno State hosts Iona Wednesday (Mar. 17).

UC DAVIS (2-0 MPSF, 5-1 overall) continues its hot start to the season, routing Detroit 18-6 at home last Saturday. The Aggies jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first five-plus minutes and led comfortably throughout. Junior Gina Hoffmire turned in another monster performance on game-highs of six goals, three assists, and four draw controls. Molly Lapolla added a hat trick. UC Davis begins a six-game road stretch on March 22 against Liberty, which will be played at St. Francis in Loretto, PA.

OREGON (0-0 MPSF, 3-3 overall) defeated Iona at home on Saturday, 15-10, as Bina Barrett put away a game-high four goals. Jana Drummond and Anna Swicklik each added a hat trick, with the latter picking up five ground balls. Oregon scored the first goal less than three minutes in and was never caught. The Ducks host Cincinnati Saturday (Mar. 20), before traveling to Hofstra Monday (Mar. 22) to begin five straight on the road.

CALIFORNIA (0-1 MPSF, 1-4 overall) nearly pulled off a huge upset at home Saturday, though was edged in overtime by No. 10 Notre Dame, 14-12. Allie Welsh collected a game-high eight points on four goals and four assists. Alyse Kennedy and Tara Arolla each added a hat trick. Junior goalkeeper Allie Shropshire recorded 11 saves. The Bears travel to Quinnipiac Friday (Mar. 19) and Fairfield Sunday (Mar. 21).

DENVER (1-0 MPSF, 6-2 overall) is coming off a bye week and concludes a six-game homestand Saturday (Mar. 20) against Rutgers. Last time out, the Pioneers stretched their win streak to five straight, with a 13-12 overtime stunner over No. 9 Loyola (Mar. 3) and a 12-6 victory over Holy Cross (Mar. 6). Kara Secora and Bonnie Wells both delivered a hat trick in the upset, with the former nailing a pair of unassisted goals after regulation en route to MPSF Player of the Week honors.

#13 STANFORD (0-0 MPSF, 4-2 overall) was off this past week, and resumes action next Monday (Mar. 22) when Cincinnati visits. The Cardinal picked up a 14-9 victory over then 14th-ranked Vanderbilt on Mar. 7. Leslie Foard delivered a game-high five goals and Karen Nesbitt added three. Claire Hubbard dished out three assists and Annie Read tallied 11 saves in goal.

GINA HOFFMIRE MPSF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
UC Davis junior midfielder Gina Hoffmire (Corte Madera, CA/Marin Catholic HS) recorded six goals, three assists, and four draw controls in an 18-6 win over Detroit last Saturday. She also had a pair of goals, ground balls, and steals in an 18-12 win at Manhattan last Monday, Mar. 8.
