Eggens' 23 Goals Leads Hawaii to 6-0 Week

HAWAII (15-6 Overall/3-2 MPSF) sophomore Monika Eggens began her week on the road with three goals to help solidify an MPSF win at San Diego State last Wednesday, 9-6. The Rainbow Wahine would go on to win five more during the week, 10-8 in OT at UC San Diego, 9-5 at Arizona State, and 23-3 over Concordia, 12-6 vs. Cal Baptist, and 11-4 over Santa Clara in Tempe, AZ. Eggens scored four in the MPSF win vs. the Sun Devils, and finished with 23 goals in the six wins, including a hat trick in each. Hawaii is off this week.

STANFORD (19-1 Overall/4-0 MPSF) won two in Southern California over the weekend, 11-6 at UCLA to stay undefeated in MPSF action and 9-1 at Long Beach State. Melissa Seidemann posted four goals and Amber Oland collected 10 saves in goal against the Bruins. The Cardinal is off until an Apr. 11 trip to Hawaii.

USC (14-1 Overall/3-0 MPSF) outscored Long Beach State 7-0 in each of the first and third periods en route to an 18-4 home win last Thursday. Forel Davies recorded a hat trick in the first quarter, on her way to a career-high six goals. Goalkeeper Tumua Anae tallied 13 saves and picked up 12 more in an MPSF win over San Diego State (9-4). USC hosts Brown Thursday (Apr. 1) and a Saturday (Apr. 3) doubleheader against Northridge and Bakersfield.

UCLA (15-6 Overall/3-2 MPSF) sophomore KK Clark put away a game-high three goals Sunday in a 12-5 MPSF home win over San Jose State. Caitlin Dement recorded eight saves in the cage. Priscilla Orozco scored twice in that game, as well as in the loss to Stanford. The Bruins, in a three-way for third, return to action on Apr. 8 for non-conference play at Loyola Marymount.

ARIZONA STATE (15-9 Overall/0-4 MPSF) won three of four at its own Sun Devil Invitational, defeating Cal Baptist (14-13), Concordia (19-7), and Santa Clara (11-4). Lynlee Smith registered a hat trick in each win and Nikki Unbehaun added three goals in the Santa Clara game. The Sun Devils host California Saturday (Apr. 3) as conference action continues.

SAN JOSE STATE (14-10 Overall/2-3 MPSF) dropped two in Los Angeles over the weekend, 12-11 at Loyola Marymount and 12-5 at UCLA in a conference game. Adriana Vogt scored a season-high five goals and Dani Curran had three against the Lions. Vogt scored twice vs. the Bruins for a seven-goal week. The Spartans are off until the Santa Clara Tournament on Apr. 10.

SAN DIEGO STATE (16-11 Overall/0-5 MPSF) dropped a pair of MPSF games, 9-6 at home to Hawaii and 9-4 at USC. Goalkeeper Kelly Campoli collected 10 saves in each game and Amber Pezzolla tallied a hat trick vs. UH. The Aztecs host a doubleheader Friday (Apr. 2), taking on Cal Baptist and Brown.

CALIFORNIA (20-5 Overall/3-2 MPSF) resumes MPSF action Saturday (Apr. 3) at Arizona State. The Bears were off last week, coming off a 2-0 Pacific Invitational from the weekend prior, and has won six straight. Cal sits in a three-way tie for third with two conference road games remaining.

Hawaii sophomore attacker Monika Eggens (Pitt Meadows, B.C / Pitt Meadows Secondary) combined for 23 goals in six games, recording at least three in each, as the Rainbow Wahine turned in a 6-0 week on the mainland. Eggens recorded a hat trick in MPSF road wins at San Diego State and Arizona State. She had 27 goals entering the week, thus the additional 23 gives her 50 on the year, and atop the MPSF scoring chart. SHANNON HAAS MPSF MIKASA NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Arizona State freshman center Shannon Haas (Murrieta Valley, CA/Vista Murrieta HS) combined for eight goals in four games this past weekend at the Sun Devil Invitational, scoring at least once in each, helping her team to three wins. Haas now owns 33 goals in 24 games this year (1.38 GPG), third in scoring amongst MPSF freshmen.
