DENVER (1-0 MPSF, 6-2 overall) stretched its win streak to five straight, all at home, with a 13-12 overtime stunner over No. 9 Loyola (MD.) last Wednesday and 12-6 victory over Holy Cross Saturday. Kara Secora and Bonnie Wells both delivered a hat trick in the upset, with the former nailing a pair of unassisted goals after regulation. Denver never trailed en route to Wednesday's big win. Secora added a pair goals and assists against HC, while Ali Flury knocked in a game-high five goals. The Pioneers are off until Mar. 20 when they finish the homestand against Rutgers.

#14 STANFORD (0-0 MPSF, 4-2 overall) won twice at home, 19-7 over last Thursday followed by a 14-9 victory over 14th-ranked Vanderbilt Sunday. Leslie Foard delivered a game-high five goals and Karen Nesbitt added three vs. the Commodores. Claire Hubbard dished out three assists and Annie Read tallied 11 saves in goal. Hubbard had five assists and Dana Lindsay scored a game-high four goals against the Wildcats, a game in which the Cardinal raced out to an 8-0 lead in the first 10 minutes. Stanford is off until Cincinnati visits on March 22.

UC DAVIS (2-0 MPSF, 4-1 overall) posted a sudden-victory, four-overtime win at Temple last Saturday, 14-13. Junior Gina Hoffmire put away the last of her career-high seven unassisted goals as the game-winner in the fourth OT session. The Owls were ahead most of the game, including a 5-1 start. UCD also won at Manhattan Monday (Mar. 8), 18-12, behind a 15-goal second half. Britt Farquharson scored four goals, also netting a hat trick in Thursday's loss at Villanova. Detroit visits on Saturday (Mar. 13), before UCD hits the road again for six games.

CALIFORNIA (0-1 MPSF, 1-3 overall) picked up its first win of the season last Tuesday, 14-9 at home over Davidson. The Bears were up 9-2 by halftime. Vail Horn and Alex Tickner recorded four goals apiece and Alyse Kennedy added two goals and one assist. Allie Welsh dished two assists. No. 10 Notre Dame will be the third nationally-ranked team to visit Berkeley in the young season, Saturday (Mar. 13).

OREGON (0-0 MPSF, 2-3 overall) was edged by Louisville this past Saturday at home, 13-10. Jana Drummond tallied four goals while Alex Breiner accumulated two goals and three assists for a game-high five points. The Ducks host Iona Saturday (Mar. 13) in the lone game for the week.

FRESNO STATE (0-0 MPSF, 0-4 overall) dropped its 2010 opener at Villanova on Mar 1, 18-4. Amanda Cross, Margaret Wolford, Michelle Rose, and Amira Ferrell each scored once as the Bulldogs began their second season of play. Katie Wilbur collected saves in goal. The Bulldogs also came up short at Central Connecticut State (11-9), UMBC (18-3), and Navy (23-2) on their east coast swing. Rose and Cross scored two each and Wilbur had 11 saves at CCSU. FSU plays its home opener against Detroit Thursday (Mar. 11), opening a five-game homestand.

ST. MARY'S (0-1 MPSF, 1-3 overall) was off this past week and hosts Detroit Tuesday (Mar. 9) to begin four straight in Moraga. The Gaels dropped a 21-11 MPSF contest at UC Davis last time out on Feb. 27, as Juliet Munroe recorded a game-high five goals along with Jillian Chong's four and one assist.

KARA SECORA MPSF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Denver sophomore attacker Kara Secora (Denver, CO/Kent Denver HS) recorded a seven-point week on five goals and two assists, leading the Pioneers to an upset over No. 9 Loyola and Holy Cross. She scored two of her three goals against Loyola in overtime, including a game-winner, and followed up with a pair of goals and one assist against Holy Cross. Secora added two ground balls and two caused turnovers during the week.
