UC Davis Wins Tri-Meet in Season Opener

UC DAVIS senior Marcy Miller won the all-around with a career-high (38.775) along with taking third on career-best floor (9.825), leading the Aggies to a season opening triangular win over San Jose State and Alaska-Anchorage at home Sunday. UC Davis scored a collective 191.300 in the meet, with the Spartans second (190.600) and Seawolves third (188.675). Michele Hurlock was second on uneven bars (9.725), as was Erika Van Dyke on beam (9.725). Van Dyke also won the floor title (9.875), while sophomore Michelle Ho placed right behind (9.85). The Aggies face the Spartans again this week in another tri-meet, visiting California Friday (Jan. 14).
ALASKA-ANCHORAGE junior Kaelei Spoor won the balance beam title (9.775) at UC Davis Sunday, as the Seawolves improved by nearly three full points (188.675) in the tri-meet from opening night. Freshman Melissa Doucette finished third All-Around (37.625) and Kristy Boswell tied for second on bars (9.725). Spoor was second on floor in Friday's quad meet at Sacramento State (9.65), as UAA placed third (185.725). The Seawolves are off until Jan. 30 when they face California in Berkeley.
AIR FORCE freshman Linnaea Hance finished fifth All-Around (37.175) as the Falcons placed fourth (186.600) in last Saturday's quad meet at Denver. No. 7 Georgia, BYU, and the host Pioneers finished in the top-three in order. Senior Brittany Dutton and freshman Jen Larsen each turned in 10th place routines on the floor (9.70) and beam (9.525), respectively. The Falcons travel to College Park, MD, for a Saturday (Jan. 15) tri-meet with the host Terrapins and the University of New Hampshire.
SEATTLE PACIFIC opens its season by hosting Illinois State Friday (Jan. 14) and visiting the University of Washington Saturday (Jan. 15). The first meet is a dual contest while the second meet will be a quad featuring the Falcons, Redbirds, Boise State Broncos, and the host Huskies.
