UC DAVIS placed third of four at San Jose State last Friday, posting a total of 192.325. Junior Erika Van Dyke shared the top UCD event finish in the meet, a 9.85 fourth place tie on floor, matching the placement for Marcy Miller and Jessica Rea on bars (9.825). The Aggie bars total (48.950) was second highest in program history. Michele Hurlock's 9.775, Anna Shumaker's 9.725, and Stacey Nicolini's 9.80 in that event were all career-efforts. Van Dyke chipped in a sixth place beam (9.725). The Aggies return home Sunday (Feb. 20) for a dual with California.
AIR FORCE posted a season-best 192.400 in a narrow 0.025 point dual defeat to defending USAG National Champion Bridgeport last Saturday. The team total was third highest in the Doug Day era. The Falcons shined on the bars (48.750), owning four of the top-five scores, led by Brittany Dutton's title (9.825). Linnaea Hance placed second (9.80) in that event and shared a beam title with Lisa Wong (9.725). Samantha Jones vaulted to a career-high (9.75) and tied her personal best with a third place floor (9.725), behind Dutton's silver finish (9.75). Hance was second on a career all-around (38.575) and Dutton third (38.425). The Falcons compete in another dual this Saturday (Feb. 19) at Eastern Michigan.
SEATTLE PACIFIC surpassed 190 for the fourth straight meet (190.025) last Friday in a quad at San Jose State with Boise State, UC Davis, and the host Spartans. The Falcons recorded a season-best on bars (48.425), led by Laura Willis' career-high (9.775). Sherah Veron displayed the top SPU floor (9.80) and vault (9.725) routines. Seattle Pacific partakes in another quad on Friday (Feb. 18), traveling to Illinois State to face the Redbirds, Brown, and Wisconsin-Lacrosse.
ALASKA-ANCHORAGE turned in a season-best 190.475 team score, placing fourth at New Hampshire's quad meet last Saturday. The Seawolves also combined for season-bests on floor, bars (47.550) and beam (47.325). The vault total (48.450) was also ninth-best in program history, guided by a fifth place tie from Shakea Sanders (9.75). Kaelei Spoor posted a 9.725 on floor and Emily Petersen a 9.625 on beam. UAA is off this week, next in action for another quad against SE Missouri, Eastern Michigan, and the host Central Michigan on Feb. 24.
LINNAEA HANCE MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
Air Force freshman Linnaea Hance (Naperville, IL) set three career-bests and won a title as the Falcons set a season-best team score of 192.400 against defending USAG National Champion Bridgeport last Saturday. Her career-bests came on bars (9.80), floor (9.60) and all-around (38.575). Hance' scores on the bars and all-around are the second-highest marks on the team. She tied for first on beam (9.725) and was second on bars and all-around. Nominated: Erika Van Dyke (UCD)
