Air Force Hosts MPSF Championships

AIR FORCE tallied its highest team score (193.300) in seven years in this past Monday's regular season finale against No. 18 Denver. Brittany Dutton registered a 9.775 on bars to finish third, while earning the same score on floor. Tara Harris hit a career-high on vault (9.725) in a tie for fifth. Linnaea Hance and Lisa Wong shared a 9.75 on beam, each matching her career-best. In the Mar. 11 tri-meet at Washington, Jen Larsen finished third in her first career all-around (37.725), as well as a fifth place vault (9.725) in her debut. The Falcons are this year's host of the MPSF Championship Meet, Saturday (Mar. 19) at 6pm (MT).
UC DAVIS accumulated a school record-setting 48.925 vault score, in addition to a season best total (194.175), in a tri-meet at Sacramento State last Sunday with the host Hornets and No. 13 Boise State. In her final regular season meet, Marcy Miller became the sixth Aggie all-time to hit 39 points all-around, which placed third in the meet. Miller scored a 9.70 on beam and matched Erika Van Dyke's floor performance (9.80). Stacey Nicolini recorded a career-best all-around (38.875), with her best result coming on vault (9.825).
SEATTLE PACIFIC placed second of three in a tri meet at nearby 15th-ranked University of Washington, scoring a 190.050, as Samantha Taylor, Texie Gregory, and Kenley Memmel posted career-marks. Taylor (9.8/T-5th) and Gregory's (9.65) efforts came on bars, while Memmel's came on vault (9.55). Sherah Veron and Lari Wilson also contributed 9.55 vault routines. The top Falcon placement was from Bri Steigauf, sharing a bronze finish on floor (9.775). Kai Tindall tied for fifth on beam (9.65).
ALASKA-ANCHORAGE is coming off a season-high team score (192.250) last Sunday, also the second-best ever at home and sixth-best in school history. The score comes two days after the Seawolves posted a then best 191.475. Shakea Sanders turned in a career all-around (38.500), along with a career beam (9.675) and a winning floor routine (9.80) in the second meet. Maria Puricelli won the bars title in a career-effort (9.775). UAA's team total of 48.100 on beam ranks ninth all-time for the program. Friday, the Seawolves also went 1-2-3 on bars with Puricelli's 9.725, Kristy Boswell's 9.70, and Shelby MacDonald's 9.675. The bars total (48.125) was eighth-best in UAA history.
MARCY MILLER MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
UC Davis senior Marcy Miller (Huntington Beach, CA) became the sixth Aggie in school history to hit the 39-point barrier in the all-around, scoring an even 39, helping UC Davis' season-best 194.175 at Sacramento State. She posted a 9.70 on beam, 9.80 on floor, 9.725 on vault, and 9.775 on bars. Miller's vault helped UCD compile a school-record total 48.925 in that event.
