No. 1 Stanford Stays Unbeaten, USC Wins in OT

STANFORD (16-0 Overall/2-0 MPSF) posted a 14-3 MPSF win at Arizona State this past Saturday, its first game in 13 days. Annika Dries led with five goals while Allysa Lo followed with three in helping keep the Cardinal perfect through 16 games. Amber Oland picked up eight saves, before Kate Baldoni finished the game in the cage. Stanford hosts UCLA Saturday (Mar. 26) in another conference contest, followed by a Sunday (Mar. 27) game at UC Davis.

USC (12-3 Overall/3-1 MPSF) picked up an important conference road win at Hawaii last Friday, 5-4 in overtime, as Patricia Jancso poured in the game-winner in the second session of OT. Joelle Bekhazi tied a game-high two goals, including one with two seconds left in regulation to force OT. Goalkeeper Flora Bolonyai collected 12 saves. The Trojans return home Friday (Mar. 25) to face Maryland, followed by a visit to Loyola Marymount Saturday (Mar. 26).

CALIFORNIA (19-3 Overall/4-0 MPSF) swept three non-conference home games this past week, defeating Harvard (12-4), George Washington (16-4) and UC Davis (15-7). Freshman Ashley Young poured in five goals vs. the Aggies. Remington Price scored four vs. the Colonials while Maxine Sharf added a hat trick. Elizabeth McLaren led with four goals against the Crimson. The Bears are off for the rest of March.

SAN JOSE STATE (15-8 Overall/1-2 MPSF) won its lone game of last week, 8-5 at home against Harvard last Wednesday, and extending the win streak to eight. Adriana Vogt scored two of her three goals in the fourth quarter, while Allie Stewart also posted a hat trick. Meagan Minson stopped 10 shots in the cage. The Spartans travel to Arizona State Saturday (Mar. 26) for an MPSF Contest.

SAN DIEGO STATE (14-9 Overall/0-3 MPSF) won a Sunday doubleheader over Maryland (10-4) and Whittier (14-2). Kelly Campoli recorded 17 saves in the cage against the Terrapins, while Erin Abrams collected 12 vs. the Poets. Meaghan Poland put away five goals in the second game. The Aztecs travel to Hawaii this week, facing the Rainbow Wahine Thursday (Mar. 24) in an MPSF Contest, followed by non-conference games Friday and Saturday.

HAWAII (10-5 Overall/2-1 MPSF) came up short in its home opener, 5-4 in overtime to USC. Amarens Genee scored twice and goalkeeper Serena Bredin recorded 15 saves. The Rainbow Wahine continues MPSF action at home with San Diego State Thursday (Mar. 24), and then stays home for a Friday (Mar. 25) doubleheader with CS East Bay and UC San Diego

ARIZONA STATE (8-9 Overall/0-4 MPSF) was defeated at home by Stanford, 14-3 last Saturday, and now turns its attention to San Jose State this Saturday (Mar. 26) in another conference home game. Mariam Salloum scored two of the three Sun Devil goals against the Cardinal.

UCLA (18-4 Overall/1-2 MPSF) was off last week, next in action Saturday (Mar. 26) at Stanford. Four of the five remaining games on the schedule will count in the conference standings. Last time out on Mar. 12, the Bruins came up short at home, 7-3 to first place California. Caitlin Dement picked up seven saves in goal.

ANNIKA DRIES MPSF MIKASA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Stanford sophomore Annika Dries (Laguna Beach, CA/Laguna Beach HS) turned in an overpowering effort at the two-meter spot Saturday, scoring five goals to lead the Cardinal to a 14-3 win at No. 8 Arizona State. The five goals marked Dries' fourth hat trick of the season and boosted her team-leading total to 31, also helping keep No. 1 Stanford undefeated.

FLORA BOLONYAI MPSF MIKASA NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
USC freshman goalkeeper Flora Bolonyai (Budapest, Hungary) was clutch again in a tight and important game for the Trojans. She accumulated 12 saves in a 5-4 overtime win at Hawai'i, including two during the extra session. Bolonyai had entered the week averaging 7.8 saves and 6.2 goals-against per game.
