UC Davis, Air Force Represented at 2011 NCAA Regionals

UC DAVIS was represented by senior Marcy Miller and freshman Anna Shumaker at the NCAA Regional in Corvallis, OR, this past Saturday, marking the fourth time in the last five years the Aggies have sent multiple qualifiers to this event. Miller accumulated an all-around score of 38.775 to finish sixth in the elite field, one that featured a pair of top-10 teams as well as Pac-10 Champion Oregon State. Miller turned in top-30 event scores on vault (9.65, 30th), bars (9.65, 29th), beam (9.725, 20th), and floor (9.75, 29th). Shumaker scored a 9.75 on vault to tie for 17th.

AIR FORCE was represented at the Denver Regional last Saturday by senior MPSF Gymnast of the Year, Brittany Dutton. She concluded her career by placing 16th all-around (36.725). Her top placement came on vault, tying for 37th with a mark of 9.65, just 0.05 off her season-best. Dutton also delivered a 9.60 on bars and 9.475 on floor, each resulting in a 38th-place finish. The Falcon team hosts the 2011 USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships on Friday (Apr. 8).

SEATTLE PACIFIC finished third at the MPSF Championships with its highest team score of the year (191.250), one-tenth better than its previous high set on Jan. 28. The Falcons compete this weekend at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships. Brianna Steigauf shared second place on floor (9.725), while Samantha Taylor came up with a third-place uneven bars routine (9.75). Sherah Veron tied for fourth on vault (9.75) and tied for fifth on floor (9.675). Laura Willis and Texie Gregory also posted top-10 results by sharing eighth on bars (9.625). Taylor and Corrine Wise were the top Falcons on beam, tying for 10th (9.65). Aditi Kulkarni tied for seventh on floor (9.625).

ALASKA-ANCHORAGE accumulated a team score of 190.475 at the MPSF Championships. The Seawolves were led by Kelsey Fullerton's floor title (9.825) and Shakea Sanders' runner-up vault effort (9.775). The vault was a strong apparatus for Alaska in the meet, placing three in the top-seven. Kaelei Spoor was sixth on beam (9.725). Finally, Maria Puricelli wrapped up her career with a fourth-place uneven bars display (9.725), finishing amongst the top-three season averages all-time at UAA in that event.
