Aggies and Seawolves Nail Career-marks to Open

UC DAVIS junior Katie Yamamura scored a career-high 9.80 on both uneven bars and balance beam en route to a winning 38.725 all-around in the season opener at Arizona State last Friday. The Aggies posted a score of 190.500, just under the Sun Devils' 190.850. Yamamura added a third place vault (9.625), to go along with her beam title and third place bars routine. Taryn West was second on floor (9.650), followed by Tiana Montell in third (9.575). UC Davis returns to the gym Sunday (Jan. 15) at Stanford, joined by San Jose State and Sacramento State.
ALASKA-ANCHORAGE defeated SUNY-Cortland, 187.950-183.800 last Sunday at home. Sariaye Jensen won bars (9.70) and all-around in her first collegiate meet (37.825). Melissa Doucette and Kaelei Spoor shared a floor title (9.65), with the former also taking second on a career vault (9.70) and all-around (37.775), and the latter second on beam (9.525). The second meeting between these two teams is Tuesday night (Jan. 10).
AIR FORCE opens its season Saturday (Jan. 14) at Texas Woman's University.
SEATTLE PACIFIC hosts Wisconsin La Crosse Friday (Jan. 13) to open 2012.

UC Davis junior Katie Yamamura (Palo Alto, CA) scored career-highs of 9.80 on both uneven bars and balance beam to post a winning 38.725 all-around in the Aggies' season opener at Arizona State. The reigning MPSF vault champion tied for third in that event (9.625), placed third on bars, and won beam in the meet, helping UC Davis reach 190.500.
