SEATTLE PACIFIC defeated Wisconsin-La Crosse, 188.425-183.275, at home last Friday to open 2012. Stephanie Wagner claimed two titles, leading a top-three sweep on beam with a 9.65, before posting a winning 9.625 on floor. She also hit a second place bars routine (9.575). Sydney Clark was the all-around champion (36.400), also taking second on beam (9.625). Texie Gregory placed first on bars (9.675), and Aditi Kulkarni was third on beam (9.60) and second on floor (9.50). The Falcons travel to San Jose State Friday (Jan. 20).
ALASKA-ANCHORAGE defeated SUNY-Cortland, 188.125-187.250 last Tuesday (Jan. 10) at home, to sweep the two-meet series. Melissa Doucette claimed the all-around title (37.975), following an event win on vault (9.80) and runner-up routines on floor (9.65) and bars (9.60). Her all-around total was the highest for any Seawolf since 2009. Shelby MacDonald led a top-three sweep on bars (9.675), while Morgan Cook claimed the beam title (9.525) and was third on floor (9.60). Jeanette Conrad was third all-around (37.700). UAA heads east for a pair of tri-meets this week at Maryland and Towson.
UC DAVIS was involved in a quad meet at Stanford this past Sunday, improving its team score to 190.775 in placing behind the host Cardinal, San Jose State, and Sacramento State. Michelle Ho tied for fourth on floor (9.825), leading a 48.375 Aggie rotation. Madeline Kennedy turned in a career floor routine (9.725). UC Davis' home opener is Sunday (Jan. 22) against MPSF opponent Air Force.
AIR FORCE opened its season last Saturday at Texas Woman's University, placing second with 188.200. The Falcons were two points better than last year's opening dual meet. Third place outcomes were posted by Samantha Jones and Linnaea Hance, sharing a 9.55 on bars. Jessica Hanner was the all-around runner-up (37.325). Air Force heads to UC Davis Sunday.
MICHELLE HO MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
UC Davis junior Michelle Ho (Los Altos, CA) finished in a tie for fourth place on the floor with a 9.825, while adding 9.650 scores on both bars and beam, to help the Aggies to a 190.775 team score in a quad meet at No. 8 Stanford last Sunday. Nominated: Samantha Jones (AFA)
