Yamamura Hits Two UC Davis Records

MPSF Women's Gymnastics Release - 3/13/12

UC DAVIS Katie Yamamura broke Flora Bare's 2003 school record with a 39.225 all-around at Sacramento State this past Sunday, as the Aggies were second in a quad meet with a season-high (194.025), ahead of Central Michigan and Seattle Pacific. Yamamura also tied her own Aggie record of 9.90 on vault, while adding a 9.75 on bars and beam, and 9.825 on floor. She won meet titles on vault and all-around while sharing first on beam. Michelle Ho placed second on floor with a career-high (9.875). UC Davis visits San Jose State Friday in a tri-meet with Sacramento State and the host Spartans.

AIR FORCE accumulated its highest road score of the year (192.275), placing second in the Eastern Michigan quad meet, ahead of Northern Illinois and Temple. Linnaea Hance tied for first on bars (9.80), while Sammi Jones tied for fourth with a career-tying effort (9.75). Jessica Wallander shared a vault title (9.75), matching her score from the last two meets. Alexandra Stych equaled a career-high on floor (9.80) in earning third. The Falcons travel to Tucson, AZ for another quad meet Friday (Mar. 16), taking on No. 18 Arizona, Utah State, and Bridgeport.

ALASKA-ANCHORAGE freshman Morgan Cook averaged better than 38 points in the all-around as UAA posted back-to-back season-high team scores in dual-meet home losses to Michigan State, Mar. 9 & 11. On Friday, she posted a personal-best 9.60 on beam and came 0.025 shy of her career-high with a 37.750 all-around. On Sunday, she topped the 38-point mark for the first time with a 38.400 all-around (2nd), including personal-bests of 9.8 on beam and 9.775 on floor (3rd). Those marks led UAA to the 6th-best score in school history (192.625). The Seawolves are next in action at the MPSF Championship Meet, Mar. 24.

SEATTLE PACIFIC Aditi Kulkarni tied for fourth on beam (9.65), as the Falcons placed fourth (191.650) in the quad at Sacramento State. The team score was their third best of the year. Sherah Veron matched her career-best vault (9.775). Seattle Pacific visits Oregon State Friday for a tri-meet with No. 31 New Hampshire and the host No. 8 Beavers.

UC Davis junior Katie Yamamura (Palo Alto, CA) broke Flora Bare's 2003 school record with a 39.225 all-around at Sacramento State. She tied her own Aggie benchmark and the top MPSF event score since last year's conference championship of 9.90 on vault, while adding a 9.75 on bars and beam, and 9.825 on floor. Yamamura won meet titles on vault and all-around while sharing first on beam, helping UC Davis to a season-best 194.025.
