Women's Lacrosse All-MPSF Honors Announced

California junior attacker Megan Takacs (Woodside, CA/Chagrin Falls HS) is the first Golden Bear to be named MPSF Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year. Through the week ending April 22, she leads the nation in goals per game at 4.08, despite missing Cal's last two games. Her other national rankings include the following: No. 7 in goals (53), No. 10 in draw controls per game (4.85), No. 12 in points per game (4.62), and No. 33 in total points (60). Takacs leads Cal in draw controls (63), points (60), goals (a school-record 53), game-winning goals (4) and shots (a school-record 106). She was named MPSF Player of the Week (for the week ending March 11 ) after tallying 11 goals, 14 draw controls, two game-winning goals and one assist in a pair of 18-9 wins over Detroit Mercy and San Diego State. Last season she led Cal in points (48) and assists (16) and also tallied 32 goals to garner All-MPSF first-team status. She later gained a spot on the MPSF All-Academic team as a sophomore with a 3.044 GPA.

Head Coach Jen Larsen-Beck led the University of Oregon to its first MPSF regular season title after the Ducks defeated Denver in the battle of the unbeatens last Saturday at Pape' Field, 13-8. In Larsen-Beck's eight seasons at the helm, the Ducks have recorded 12 wins three times in program history (2007, 2009, 2012). The seven MPSF wins that UO accumulated this season marked a program-high for the Ducks as Oregon finished the season unbeaten at home for only the second time in school history. Larsen-Beck's squad heads into this weekend's tournament riding a seven-game win streak. In Oregon's last 10 games, Larsen-Beck has her squad sitting at a 9-1 mark, with the only loss coming in a non-conference game. In addition to having eight players recording double-digits in the points column, Larsen-Beck has seen four of her players tabbed MPSF Player of the Week in consecutive weeks, a UO single-season record (Shannon Propst, Jana Drummond, Kristina Barrett, Caroline Federighi).

Denver Freshman attacker Jill Remenapp (Woodbine, MD/Century HS) ranks third in the MPSF and 29th in the NCAA in assists per game (1.93). She is also10th in the conference and 100th in the NCAA in points per game (3.29). Remenapp has scored on 70.4 percent of her shot attempts in her freshman year (19-of-27). One of her best games came on March 9 against St. Mary's, when she recorded seven points off two goals and five assists, which helped begin a 12-game win streak for the Pioneers.

UC Davis Freshman midfield Elizabeth Landry (Lafayette, CA/Acalanes HS) leads the Aggies in ground balls (37), draw controls (72) and caused turnovers (31) to go with 38 goals and 7 assists. She ranks 2nd in the MPSF and 14th nationally in both caused turnovers (1.8) and draw controls (4.6) as of April 23. She set school draw control records for a season (72) and in a single-game (12), breaking previous benchmarks of 58 and 9, respectively. Landry scored at least one goal in every MPSF game, including three goals with eight draw controls vs. Denver on April 15.
