Late Goal Lifts UCLA to Ninth MPSF Championship

UCLA (21-3 Overall/5-2 MPSF) claimed its record ninth MPSF Championship, capped off by an overtime win over host and No. 1 seed Stanford, 8-7. Becca Dorst had a game-high three goals, while KK Clark scored her second goal as the winner with 46 seconds left in the first OT. Caitlin Dement had 12 saves. Hannah Sebenaler lobbed in the semifinal winning goal with three seconds left vs. USC. UCLA topped San Diego State in the quarterfinal, 9-5.

STANFORD (23-2 Overall/7-0 MPSF) was the MPSF Tournament runner-up as it hosted the three-day event (Apr. 27-29). The Cardinal defeated No. 8 seed Hawaii (13-3) and No. 5 seed California (12-5) in the semifinal. Ashley Grossman had four goals in the quarterfinal, while Palavi Menon recorded a hat trick in the semifinal. Stanford earned one of the two NCAA At-Large bids, as the No. 1 national seed in San Diego (May 11-13).

USC (21-5 Overall/5-2 MPSF) won two of three in the MPSF Tournament, taking the quarterfinal over No. 6 seed
San Jose State (8-1) and the third-place game over California (6-4). The Trojans allowed only nine total goals over the three games. Flora Bolonyai combined for 29 weekend saves, including 12 in the quarters. USC received the second NCAA At-Large bid as the No. 3 national seed on May 11.

CALIFORNIA (18-9 Overall/4-3 MPSF) placed fourth, guided by a day one victory over No. 4 seed Arizona State, 13- 12 in overtime. Elizabeth McLaren and Dana Ochsner put away four goals apiece in what turned out to be the highest scoring game of the MPSF Tournament. The Bears finished the season 18-9 after the semifinals and third-place game losses.

ARIZONA STATE (25-6 Overall/4-3 MPSF) won two of three in taking fifth, and finishing its season with a program- record 25 victories. The Sun Devils were involved in three one-goal outcomes, defeating Hawaii on day two (7-6) and San Diego State in the fifth-place game (12-11) in overtime. Ianeta Hutchinson had 12 saves vs. UH. Alicia Brightwell poured in a tournament-high seven goals in the fifth-place win, while Hutchinson collected 14 saves.

SAN DIEGO STATE (22-11 Overall/1-6 MPSF) managed a second day win over No. 6 seed San Jose State, 11- 8. Anique Hermann scored three goals in the quarterfinals against UCLA, while Amber Pezzolla had four in the fifth- place game and in the win over the Spartans. Kelly Campoli, in her final weekend, collected 12 of her 28 saves in the win.

SAN JOSE STATE (19-13 Overall/2-5 MPSF) Ally Waasted scored an even-strength goal in the second overtime period for the win. Katie Buzzetta delivered a hat trick in that game. Goalkeeper Meagan Minson was credited with 11 saves in her final collegiate game.

HAWAII (10-15 Overall/0-7 MPSF) Amarens Genee recorded a game-high four goals, and Serena Reid had 12 stops in goal, in the seventh-place game against San Jose State. Genee added a hat trick against ASU for a seven-goal weekend. Sivan Pardon scored twice in the quarterfinal.
