Kate Henrich, the nation's leader in caused turnovers (3.1 CT/G), caused six, while adding five ground balls and four draw controls vs. the Cardinal. Jenn Etzel was the point leader with four on two goals and assists. DU travels to Fresno State Friday (Apr. 13) and UC Davis Sunday (Apr.15).
OREGON (4-0 MPSF, 9-4 Overall) Jana Drummond delivered a first-half hat trick, en route to a game-high five goals in last Friday's 21-4 home win over Fresno State. The 21 team goals were a season-high. Nikki Puszcz dished three assists and Shannon Propst added three goals. Sunday, Drummond slammed in a season-high six goals to keep the Ducks unbeaten in the MPSF. Oregon scored six straight goals in the final 20 minutes to beat UC Davis, 16-13.
CALIFORNIA (3-2 MPSF, 6-5 Overall) picked up an MPSF win last Wednesday at UC Davis, 15-10, where NCAA Division I goals per game leader (4.09) Megan Takacs was the difference. She totaled six points on five goals and one assist, while adding 11 draw controls. Alexa Rozelle added a hat trick and Megan McGinnis had 10 saves. The Bears have three of their final four games this week, hosting Fresno State, before traveling to Vermont and No. 20 Boston College.
STANFORD (1-1 MPSF, 3-8 Overall) Catherine Swanson led the Cardinal to a 1-1 conference record last week with five goals, an assist and seven draw controls. She had four goals and an assist in Stanford's win over Fresno State (20-3) and a goal and four draw controls in the loss to Denver. Stanford hosts first-place and conference unbeaten Oregon Friday (Apr. 13) and San Diego State Sunday (Apr. 15).
UC DAVIS (2-2 MPSF, 5-7 Overall) dropped a pair of MPSF games last week, 15-10 at home to California and 16-13 at Oregon. Hannah Mirza had a team-high four goals against the Ducks, followed by hat tricks from Elizabeth Datino and Stephanie Guercio. Datino had four points vs. the Bears on two goals and two assists, and enters the week No. 2 in the nation in points per game (6.08). UCD is at home in its final four games, beginning with Denver Sunday (Apr. 15).
SAN DIEGO STATE (1-4 MPSF, 4-9 Overall) freshman Michaela Jarvis had a career day in the19-6 win at Regis, accumulating six points on two goals and four assists, and guiding the Aztecs to their first ever road win. Jarvis came into the game with one career point. SDSU wraps up its first regular season this week in a pair of MPSF road games at St. Mary's Friday (Apr. 13) and St. Mary's Sunday (Apr. 15).
FRESNO STATE (0-3 MPSF, 2-7 Overall) was defeated in a pair of conference games, Stanford at home and Oregon on the road. Lauren Natale scored twice and Natalie Harrington had a goal and an assist in Eugene. Briana Hetherington had one assist, two draw controls, and four ground balls vs. the Cardinal. The bulldogs visit California Tuesday, before returning home to face first-place Denver Friday.
ST. MARY'S (0-3 MPSF, 2-8 Overall) returns to action Friday (Apr 13), hosting San Diego State in a conference game. Last time out on Mar. 24, the Gaels rallied from an 8-2 second half deficit, though had its comeback fall short in a 10-8 defeat to Central Connecticut State. Caroline Mahoney scored a hat trick, followed by two goals from Allie DeBruhl. Rachel Minarovich tallied a line of one goal, two assists, three caused turnovers, four ground balls, and six draw controls.
JANA DRUMMOND MPSF PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Oregon senior midfield Jana Drummond (Nashua, NH/E. Grand Rapids HS) scored 11 goals and tallied one assist, good for 12 points in two key wins over Fresno State and UC Davis to propel the Ducks into first-place in the MPSF. In Friday's game against Fresno State, where Oregon recorded a season-high 21 goals, Drummond was responsible for a team-leading five goals. Sunday, against UC Davis, Drummond tallied six goals, one off her own single-game school record of seven. Two of those six goals came during the 6-0 run to finish the comeback win.
