SOONERS WIN 14TH-STRAIGHT ROCKY MOUNTAIN TITLE

#3 OKLAHOMA claimed the Rocky Mountain Open Title for the 14th-straight year by finishing first of three in Colorado Springs, CO last Saturday. The Sooners scored a 423.500 to win the event, placing ahead of Nebraska (418.900) and host Air Force (405.500). OU swept the collegiate titles, as Alex Robin (floor, 14.900; all-around, 80.950), Sergey Resnick (horse, 15.100; parallel bars, 14.400-tie), Michael Squires (rings, 15.150), Josh Yee (vault, 14.850; parallel bars, 14.400-tie) and William Clement (high bar, 14.300) each won their respective events.

#6 AIR FORCE opened 2013 in familiar fashion, hosting the 32nd annual Rocky Mountain Open. The Falcons placed third with a total of 405.500, behind a pair of record setting vaults at the Academy. Sophomore Gared Chapman and freshman Josh Pyne matched the program standard of 14.750 on the vault to place second. Senior Tory Brown also claimed a runner-up finish, as he recorded a mark of 14.650 to take second on the floor. Army visits Air Force Saturday.

#2 STANFORD Eddie Penev (85.200) and Sean Senters (80.200) finished one-two all-around in the season-opening 425.000-411.150 dual win at California last Saturday. Penev, the reigning NCAA Floor Champion, shared that event title (15.650). James Fosco won the rings title (15.300), Brian Knott the high bar title (14.450) and John Martin and Chris Turner shared the horse title (14.400). The Cardinal competes in their home opener Saturday (Jan. 19), again facing Cal, along with Nebraska and Oklahoma.

#5 CALIFORNIA Jeffrey Langenstein shared the floor title (15.650) with defending NCAA Champion Eddie Penev in last Saturday's season-opening dual in Berkeley. The Bears had several third-place displays, including Kevin Wolting's Vault (14.500), Steven Lacombe's rings (14.950), and Matthew del Junco and freshman Colt Kucker, who tied for third on horse (13.900). Cal heads to Stanford Saturday to again take on the Cardinal, along with Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Stanford senior Eddie Penev (Rochester, NY) took home an event title on floor (15.650) en route to being crowned all-around champion (85.200), as the Cardinal won a road dual at No. 6 California. Penev also placed third on high bar (13.850), and tied for second on parallel bars (14.700), leading Stanford to a second-best national total during opening week (425.000).
