SPU Extends Scoring Streak in Elite Meet

SEATTLE PACIFIC accumulated 191.400 in an elite tri-meet this past Friday in Corvallis, OR. The Falcons took on the host No. 11 Oregon State and No. 15 Arizona, and managed to chip in their sixth straight 191-plus for the first time since 2005. Stephanie Wagner hit a seventh-place 9.80 on bars, the highest score on the event for any Falcon this year. She added an eighth-place beam of 9.70. Shannon Escarra totaled 38.575 all-around, second-highest in her career, taking fifth. SPU heads to Air Force Saturday.
AIR FORCE accumulated a team score of 191.225 this past Sunday in Denton, TX, in a quad with Centenary, Illinois-Chicago, and the host Texas Woman's University. Linnaea Hance highlighted the Falcons, scoring a career-high on uneven bars (9.85) to finish in a three-way tie for first. She also finished with a season-high all-around (39.725) to take third. Jessica Hanner was second on beam (9.75). Air Force hosts Seattle Pacific Saturday (Mar. 2).
UC DAVIS Stephanie Stamates was involved in a three-way tie for first with a 9.825 floor display in last Friday's dual at Sacramento State. The Aggies totaled a final score of 192.825. UCD also had three gymnasts with podium finishes on vault, Anna Shumaker (9.85), Katie Yamamura (9.825), and Tiana Montell (9.80). Yamamura was third all-around (38.175). The Aggies return home Friday (Mar. 1) against San Jose State.
ALASKA-ANCHORAGE Marie-Sophie Boggasch equaled a meet-high 9.875 in sharing first-place on vault, as the Seawolves scored their third best total ever, 192.850 against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 17. Boggasch tied the fifth best vault in program history. Emily Petersen won the uneven bars (9.775), and tied for second on beam with Morgan Cook (9.775), lifting UAA to its second best beam total for the program (48.525). UAA is off until the regular season finales, Mar. 7-9.
LINNAEA HANCE MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
Air Force junior Linnaea Hance (Bend, OR) scored a career-best 9.85 on bars to tie for first during the TWU Quad last Sunday. She also tallied a personal-best 9.675 on vault and a season-high 38.725 all-around. In addition to her win on bars, Hance finished third all-around and seventh-place beam (9.65).
