UC DAVIS Katie Yamamura broke her own school all-around record with a winning 39.325 (tied for sixth in MPSF history and best since 2004), leading the Aggies to a school-record total of 195.475, at home last Friday against San Jose State. The Aggie output is the fourth highest total in MPSF history, and the best since `04. UCD also achieved an MPSF-best since '04 on floor (49.375) and bars (49.050). Yamamura opened with a 9.775 on vault, set a personal record 9.90 on bars, 9.80 on beam, then tied her floor best of 9.85. Additionally, Yamamura becomes just the fourth Aggie to hit a 9.90 on bars.
AIR FORCE With two career-bests and event titles, Linnaea Hance led a 193.825-192.975 victory over Seattle Pacific last Saturday. Hance became the first Falcon since `04 to surpass the 39-point mark in an all-around (39.050). She also tied for first on bars (9.775), tied for third on beam (9.725) and added a career-best vault (9.775) to finish third. The Falcons' winning team total of 193.825 marked the best overall score since head coach Doug Day's arrival in 2007.
SEATTLE PACIFIC accumulated its highest score since the '08 MPSF Championship meet, a 192.975 in a dual at Air Force. SPU tied or won each event. Stephanie Wagner posted a 9.775 on beam and bars, winning the former and tying for first in the latter. Shannon Escarra vaulted to a career-high 9.80 on vault, sharing the title, while Kenley Memmel had a career floor routine of 9.80 to tie for first.
ALASKA-ANCHORAGE scored its third best total ever, 192.850 against Eastern Michigan on Feb. 17. Idle since then, UAA return to the gym for regular season finales, Mar. 7-9, at Central and Eastern Michigan.
