UCLA Visits Stanford For Key MPSF Battle

STANFORD (22-1 Overall/3-0 MPSF) Maggie Steffens and Ashley Grossman comined for 12 goals apiece as the Cardinal won four games in Honolulu this past weekend. The Cardinal took down Hawaii (17-5), San Diego State (20-3), UC San Diego (17-4), and UC Santa Barbara (12-3). Stanford hosts UCLA Saturday (Apr. 6) in a battle of two of the nation's top-four.
UCLA (21-3 Overall/3-1 MPSF) won at San Jose State, 15-8, in MPSF action followed by 16-6 at Santa Clara, and returns to NorCal for an MPSF clash with Stanford. Emily Donohoe was a combined 9-for-10 shooting over the wins, including 6-for-6 in the conference game with the Spartans.
USC (18-0 Overall/4-0 MPSF) Eike Daube recorded a career-high five goals, while Hannah Buckling added a career-high four, in the 19-6 MPSF win at CSU Bakersfield. Daube added a hat trick in the 16-5 outcome over Brown, also played at CSUB, as the Trojans stayed unbeaten. USC visits Loyola Marymount and UC Irvine, two of America's top Non-MPSF programs, in non-conference action this week.
SAN JOSE STATE (10-8 Overall/0-3 MPSF) posted its most-ever goals against UCLA, dating back to a series which began in 1998, scoring eight times last Friday at home. Timi Molnar scored three goals, all in the second half. The Spartans host California Saturday (Apr. 6).
CSU BAKERSFIELD (10-18 Overall/0-4 MPSF) defeated Fresno Pacific, 15-5 and Brown, 10-8 at home this past weekend. Janelle Shelby combined for five goals in the two wins, while freshman Niki DeLeon scored two in each game. The Roadrunners have four games at Brown this weekend, taking on the host Bears, Harvard, Michigan, and Hartwick.
CALIFORNIA (13-5 Overall/0-3 MPSF) routed Harvard for the second time this year, the latest coming at home on Mar. 23, 22-9. With a five-goal effort, Emily Csikos continues to climb the all-time scoring chart in Cal and MPSF history, reaching 208 to date. Cal visits San Jose State Saturday (Apr. 6) in an MPSF game, before hosting Loyola Marymount Sunday (Apr. 7).
ARIZONA STATE (19-5 Overall/3-2 MPSF) Shannon Haas and Alicia Brightwell combined for eight goals apiece in a doubleheader home sweep of Colorado State, 17-7, and Pomona-Pitzer, 15-3, on Mar. 22. Haas and Anna Kertes came back for four goals apiece, and E.B. Keeve had 13 saves in the Mar. 25 victory over Hartwick. ASU has four games this weekend at Brown.
EMILY DONOHOE MPSF KAP 7 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
UCLA sophomore Emily Donohoe (Upland, CA/St. Lucy's HS) was a combined 9-for-10 shooting (90.0 %) in wins at San Jose State and Santa Clara. She was a perfect 6-for-6 in the conference game with the Spartans, before adding a hat trick against the Broncos. Donohoe becomes the first three-time MPSF Player of the week this year.

MAGGIE STEFFENS MPSF KAP 7 NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK
Stanford freshman Maggie Steffens (Danville, CA/Monte Vista HS) repeats this award after scoring 12 goals over a 5-0 Cardinal week. She opened with three goals in the win over Hartwick Monday in Tempe, then scored 11 times over Stanford's four wins in Honolulu. Her trip to Hawai'i was highlighted by three goals in Saturday's win over UC Santa Barbara and four goals Sunday against No. 8 Hawai'i.
