Oregon Hosts 2013 MPSF Championship Tournament

# 11 DENVER (8-0 MPSF, 16-1 Overall) extended its win streak to an MPSF record 14 games to close the regular season at home against Oregon this past Friday. In the 14-6 outcome, Jill Remenapp and Kara Secora put away four goals apiece, while Kate Henrich caused six turnovers. Secora became the all-time DU scoring leader with 261 points. Hannah Hook collected 14 saves. Top-seeded Denver meets No. 4 seed USC in an MPSF Semifinal Thursday (May 2) at 4:30 pm (PT) on the Oregon campus.
# 14 STANFORD (6-2 MPSF, 11-5 Overall) earned the two seed with a regular season-ending 14-13 outcome at California this past Saturday. Anna Kim put away four goals and Megan Lerner broke the single-season Stanford draw control record (55). The Bay Area rivals face off yet again in the second semifinal Thursday at 7 pm. Rachel Ozer averages 2.69 goals per game.
CALIFORNIA (6-2 MPSF, 9-6 Overall) is seeded third, as it gets a quick turnaround rematch with Stanford in Thursday's second semifinal. Megan Takacs leads the MPSF in goals per game (3.20). Megan McGinnis is second in GAA and save percentage.
USC (5-3 MPSF, 8-9 Overall) edged San Diego State on Saturday, 12-11, to grab the fourth and final MPSF Tournament spot in the program's inaugural season. In the tournament-bound clincher, Amanda Johansen and Caroline Cordrey put away four goals each. Johansen leads the MPSF with 95 draw controls, while Caroline de Lyra is second in assists and points per game.
OREGON (3-5 MPSF, 8-9 Overall) wrapped up the season at Denver this past Friday. Kate Cathell and Shannon Propst each scored twice, as the latter finished the year with 68 points and a school record 39 assists.
UC DAVIS (3-5 MPSF, 6-9 Overall) shocked No. 14 Stanford on senior night in Davis this past Thursday, 15-14 in overtime. Elizabeth Datino scored the last of her five goals with 2.5 seconds left in OT to finish her Aggie career. Mary Doyle recorded four caused turnovers and six ground balls to end her freshman season.
SAN DIEGO STATE (3-5 MPSF, 8-8 Overall) hosted USC this past Saturday in concluding its second season in the MPSF. The Aztecs were led by Bailey Ewing's 2.88 goals per game, ranking fifth in the conference.
ST. MARY'S (2-6 MPSF, 4-9 Overall) Jillian Chong delivered six goals, while Amanda Cross added four along with two assists, in the 15-11 season finale win over Fresno State (Apr. 17). Chong had a team-high 31 goals, while Cross led with 43 points this year.
FRESNO STATE (0-8 MPSF, 2-13 Overall) wrapped up its season at St. Mary's (Apr. 17) and USC (Apr. 20). Kara Concheck recorded four goals in Moraga and Katie Wilbur picked up 14 saves.
