Eugene, OR---For Stanford on championship Saturday on the University of Oregon campus, it was how you started AND how you finished. The Cardinal did a little of each, racing out to a 3-0 lead in the first nine minutes of the game, then going on another 3-0 run over a five-minute span within the last quarter of action en route to a 7-6 win. Eleventh-ranked Denver had taken a 5-4 lead at the 16:59 mark of the second-half, following a 5-1 run of its own. Though a goal from Lucy Dikeou tied it with 12:17 left, followed by strikes from Anna Kim (11:23) and Hannah Farr (7:04) for the ultimate game-winner. Each of those players scored twice in the finals, while goalkeeper Lyndsey Munoz collected 10 saves. Kara Secora and Jill Remenapp scored twice each for the Pioneers, who had their MPSF record-setting 15-game win streak snapped. Annabelle Gilbride caused three turnovers for DU. With its eighth MPSF Championship, Stanford is automatically headed to the NCAA Tournament, while Denver hopes to receive one of the 13 at-large bids.
