Denver Wins 5th Straight; SDSU Visits USC

DENVER (7-1 Overall, 2-0 MPSF) Jill Remenapp combined for 10 points against Winthrop and High Point, both Pioneer wins, 16-9 and 10-7. She had six points off three goals and three assists, along with three draw controls and a groundball at Winthrop. Remenapp recorded four points off three assists and a goal at High Point. Hannah Hook picked up 11 of her 15 saves for the week at High Point. Layne Vorhees scored her first career goal, along with two ground balls, three draws, and four ground balls. Monday (Mar. 24), the Pioneers handed Brown its first loss, 9-8, as Meredith harris had two goals and two assists.
# 13 STANFORD (6-1 Overall, 2-0 MPSF) Hannah Farr tallied three goals, four ground balls, three draw controls, and two caused turnovers in a 16-4 MPSF home win over Saint Mary's. She was recently named to the Tewaaraton Watch List, an award given to the nation's top player. Lucy Dikeou, also on that list, accumulated a final line of five draw controls, three caused turnovers, two goals, and two ground balls. Alex Poplawski continued her scoring streak to each of her seven collegiate games, along with causing four turnovers. No. 13 Stanford travels to Cornell and No. 6 Notre Dame this week.
OREGON (4-3 Overall, 1-0 MPSF) routed Presbyterian, 23-3, last Saturday in Eugene, as Carly O'Connell tied her career-high 10 draws. She added six ground balls, four goals, and three assists. Courtney Valdez totaled career-high six points off five goals and one assist. Rachel Steinberg collected three ground balls and two draws. The Ducks travel to No. 18 Ohio State as well as Cincinnati this week.
USC (3-4 Overall, 1-0 MPSF) Caroline de Lyra had three points against Princeton, off two goals and one assist, before Amanda Johansen collected five draw controls at No. 9 Massachusetts. The Trojans have two MPSF games this week, hosting San Diego State and visiting Fresno State. USC's win over the Aztecs in last year's regular season finale lifted them into the conference tournament in its inaugural season.
SAN DIEGO STATE (6-2 Overall, 3-0 MPSF) took on Princeton at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego last Saturday, where Meris Walsh scored four goals and collected a pair of draws. The Aztecs head to USC Wednesday in returning to conference action, before a trip east to James Madison.
UC DAVIS (5-3 Overall, 1-2 MPSF) Elizabeth Landry collected three goals, two assists, a caused turnover, and three draws as the Aggies battled No. 18 Towson at home this past Saturday. UC Davis travels to Detroit and Michigan this week.
CALIFORNIA (2-4 Overall, 1-2 MPSF) Paige Gasparino accumulated five points off four goals and an assist against No. 18 Towson last Thursday, and is the team leader in points with 18. The Bears, who played at La Salle Monday (Mar. 24), complete the road trip at Lehigh Wednesday (Mar. 26) Yale Friday (Mar. 28).
FRESNO STATE (1-8 Overall, 0-4 MPSF) Sophomore Anjelica Fuccillo recorded her first hat trick of the season against Columbia last Wednesday, scoring three straight goals for the Bulldogs, to reach 10 goals and 14 points on the year. Freshman Kyleigh Westgarth had a career-high six draw controls and two goals in that game.
COLORADO (4-5 Overall, 1-1 MPSF) freshman Johnna Fusco scored a career-high four goals in the Buffs' 8-1 run in the final 12:30 of the Brown game. She added a pair of draw controls. Colorado's first-ever MPSF home game is Friday (Mar. 28) against St. Mary's.
ST. MARY'S (0-5 Overall, 0-3 MPSF) Rachel Minarovich had two goals, one assist, and seven draw controls at Stanford. Jaclyn Biggers dished a pair of assists and picked up four ground balls. Conference action continues for the Gaels this week at Colorado and Denver.
