No. 4 Stanford Wins Season Opener

STANFORD won five of the six team events, en route to a season-opening 429.050-425.000. Akash Modi won the all-around (87.800), following the final routine of the night on parallel bars (15.300), as well as a first-place floor routine (15.150). Modi also tied for second on pommel horse (14.400). Brian Knott won horse (14.500), and was second on high bar (14.600). Michael Levy (rings-14.800) and Sean Senters (vault-15.250) also earned even titles. The Stanford vault squad accumulated the highest team total of the meet (73.900).
CALIFORNIA Kevin Wolting tallied a career-best and second-place all-around (87.750) to lead the Bears on opening night at home against Stanford. Kyle Zemeir was third on rings (14.600). Cal's highest scoring team totals came on vault and floor (72.250), led by Wolting's 15.000 vault and 14.850 on floor. The Bears won the team parallel bars competition with a 71.700 total.
OKLAHOMA kicks-off its season at the Rocky Mountain Open Saturday (Jan. 17) at Air Force. The Sooners have won the last three MPSF Championships and an all-time high of 13, all in the last 16 years.
