Air Force Wins Fifth-Straight Academy Meet

No. 10 AIR FORCE tallied the fourth-best total in team history (427.750) in winning its fifth consecutive All-Academy Championship Meet over Army (413.000) and Navy (410.200) in Houston, TX (Feb. 7). Aaron Nubine tied the Falcon record on floor (15.400) to win the event by over a half point, while also winning vault with a career-high 14.750. Tim Wang took down his own program record on pommel horse with a winning 15.350. Dennis Aurelius placed first on rings (14.900), as did Greg Chaput on parallel bars (14.550). Arinn Wade hit a career-high 15.000 on horse, placing second to Wang, and becoming the second-ever Falcon gymnast to reach that mark in the event.
No. 7 CALIFORNIA Kevin Wolting (87.100) and Kyle Zemeir (86.350) were the top-two all-arounders as the Bears (421.300) won a tri-meet in Tacoma, WA over Arizona State (405.300) and Washington (394.650). Cal's top event in the meet was the vault, totaling a meet-high 73.650, led by Wolting's first-place 15.300. He went on for another win on parallel bars (14.600). Zemeir won floor with a career-high (15.250), and Gagik Gharibyan was the high bar victor (14.500).
No. 4 STANFORD Akash Modi put on another incredible performance, winning four titles at No. 5 Michigan (Feb. 7), as the Cardinal totaled 432.650 in taking on the back-to-back defending NCAA Champions. Modi posted wins on parallel bars (15.300), rings (14.850), horse (14.800), and all-around by nearly five points (89.850). He was also second on floor (15.200), third on high bar (14.800), and fourth on vault (14.900). He remained unbeaten this year on p-bars and all-around, and has reached a total of 14 victories in his sophomore year. Brian Knott shared the horse win with Modi, and was the outright high bar winner (14.900). Sean Senters stayed undefeated on vault (15.200).
No. 1 OKLAHOMA hosts back-to-back defending national champion Michigan Saturday (Feb. 14). The Sooners stayed unbeaten on the year with a tri-meet victory at Iowa (Feb. 1). OU (440.850) defeated No. 8 Iowa (428.450) and No. 7 Ohio State (422.600), becoming the only program in the nation to score above a 440 at every meet in 2015. Sweeping all seven individual titles, the Sooners have claimed 16 of a possible 18 event first place finishes through three meets this season. Hunter Justus (FX, 15.200), Mike Squires (SR, 15.600), Michael Reid (PH, career-high 15.700), Colin Van Wicklen (V, 14.800), Danny Berardini/William Clement (HB, 15.100), Dylan Akers/Alec Rubin (PB, 14.800), and Allan Bower (AA, 85.500) were all event winners. Squires stayed undefeated on rings this year.
