MPSF Succeeds In Winter Cup

No. 6/7 CALIFORNIA Kevin Wolting finished sixth overall in the all-around at the Las Vegas Winter Cup, the highest finish amongst all current MPSF Gymnasts, and earned a spot on the United States Senior national team. Over the two-day competition, Wolting totaled an all-around score of 171.900. In the event finals, Wolting placed fourth on floor (30.150), eighth on pommel horse (29.300), 25th on still rings (26.400), tied for seventh on vault (30.000), tied for 18th on parallel bars (28.000) and 15th on high bar (28.050). Cal visits Stanford Saturday (Feb. 28) as team action resumes
No. 1 OKLAHOMA sophomore Allan Bower recorded the second-highest all-around finish amongst all current MPSF Gymnasts at the annual Winter Cup in Las Vegas, NV (Feb. 19-21). Bower accumulated a 171.700, solidifying a spot on the US Senior National Team. Freshman Hunter Justus and sophomore Colin Van Wicklen also finished in the top-20. Justus posted a score of 169.150 to finish 12th and Van Wicklen grabbed 15th with a 167.350. Alec Robin scored a 14.950 on vault, while Danny Berardini performed on high bar with a mark of 14.650. Team competition resumes this week as the top-ranked Sooners host Illinois Friday (Feb. 27).
No. 3/4 STANFORD Akash Modi placed ninth all-around, finishing fourth on parallel bars with a 29.300 and tying for fifth on floor with a 29.950. He had strong showings on high bar (28.850) and vault (29.850), placing sixth and 10th, respectively. Modi also locked himself in to the US Senior National Team. The Cardinal host California Saturday in team competition.
No. 10 AIR FORCE Nick Guadlip represented the Academy at the Las Vegas Winter Cup. The senior's best placement came on the floor, where he tallied a 13.550 to finish 15th in the preliminary session (34th overall). Gaudlip added a 20th-place preliminary finish on the high bar (13.050, 44th overall) and a 21st-place tie on the parallel bars (12.900, 49th-tie overall). The Falcons travel to Illinois-Chicago Sunday (Mar. 1).
