SDSU, USC Reach Five-Game Win Streaks

SAN DIEGO STATE (5-2 Overall, 3-0 MPSF) Christina Ricciardulli had four goals, one assist, and five draw controls and Alexa Comfort came off the bench to knock in four goals in an 18-12 home-opening win over Liberty (Mar. 13). Lauren Maack scored twice and dished three assists, also collecting a pair of ground balls and causing two turnovers. The Aztecs then produced their first-ever five-game win streak in a 20-14 MPSF victory over California (Mar. 15), going to 3-0 in the conference for the second-straight year. Maack had another big outing with three goals and four assists. Ricciardulli contributed had four goals, four groundballs, two draw controls and two caused turnovers, and Ijeoma Ikpe added a hat trick.
NO. RV USC (5-2 Overall, 2-0 MPSF) Amanda Johansen matched her career-high five goals and Caroline De Lyra added three in an 18-5 MPSF home win over California (Mar. 13). Michaela Michael recorded 10 draw controls. USC also flew past Liberty Monday (Mar. 9), 20-6. Michael delivered a stat line of five goals, seven draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover. Johansen added a hat trick with four draws and three caused turnovers. The Trojans shut out Marquette in the second half, opening up a 5-4 halftime score, en route to an 11-4 win (Mar. 15). Kylie Drexel put away a career-high five goals and seven points. Gussie Johns had a career-high seven saves, allowing just four.
OREGON (6-1 Overall, 1-1 MPSF) extended its win streak to four games to conclude a five-game homestand. The Ducks took down George Washington 8-6 (Mar. 10), Robert Morris 16-4 (Mar. 13), and Richmond, 15-11 (Mar. 15). Olivia Pyne scored four goals, and Courtney Valdez added three vs. RMU. The Ducks held RMU to 11 draws, after coming in as the nation's leader with over 19 per game. Pyne was 12-for-14 (.857) on shots for the week. Cambi Cukar totaled eight assists in the three games, five vs. RMU. Ali Scharkey picked up six ground balls vs. GWU.
NO. RV DENVER (4-2 Overall, 1-0 MPSF) Ali Proehl had three caused turnovers and four groundballs helping the Pioneers come back from three goals down for an 8-6 win over New Hampshire (Mar. 15). Rachel Dillon tallied half of Denver's goals with four, and Hannah Hook stopped 11 shots while allowing just six goals. The Pioneers also defeated Boston U, 13-8 (Mar. 11), as Rachael McKinnon scored four off the bench and Hook saved eight. Kiki Boone is fourth all-time in the MPSF in career draw controls (180).
UC DAVIS (1-5 Overall, 0-0 MPSF) Elizabeth Landry accumulated a 2015 MPSF-high tying seven goals against the 24th-ranked scoring defense in the nation, Bryant (Mar. 14). She added four ground balls, four caused turnovers, and a pair of draw controls. Her career draw total stands at 191, bringing her to within 35 of the all-time conference record. Landry also poured in five goals in the Old Dominion game (Mar. 10), along with four draws and three ground balls.
FRESNO STATE (2-6 Overall, 0-3 MPSF) Caroline Dineen-Carlson was five-for-10 on shots through two games this past week against Bryant and Winthrop. She added six draw controls and four ground balls. Nicole Ortleib also combined for five goals, taking only six shots over the two games. Her hat trick vs. Bryant was the first of her career.
ST. MARY'S (0-5 Overall, 0-2 MPSF) Megan Armes, who tied the single-game MPSF record with eight caused turnovers vs. Detroit (Mar. 4), had five more against Marquette (Mar. 10). Megan Zummo collected seven draws and Megan Gandsey four ground balls against Marquette.
CALIFORNIA (1-5 Overall, 1-2 MPSF) Jena Fritts had two goals and two assists at San Diego State. Michele DeVincent had four draws and Gaby Christman three caused turnovers. Bella Huther scored twice at USC and DeVincent had four ground balls off the bench.
COLORADO (2-2 Overall, 0-1 MPSF) hosts New Hampshire Tuesday (Mar. 17) at 3 pm (MT) on Pac-12 Networks. The Buffs battled in its road opener at No. 7 Northwestern on Mar. 7, as Johnna Fusco had three goals and three draws. She has a hat trick in each of her four games this year. Paige Soenksen had 13 saves and Darby Kiernan added two goals, two caused turnovers, and four ground balls.
NO. 9 STANFORD (4-0 Overall, 1-0 MPSF) is off until March 24. The Cardinal stayed unbeaten in their last game with a 22-11 rout at Vanderbilt (Mar. 8). Lucy Dikeou tallied a career-high six goals, one away from the Stanford single-game record. Kelsey Murray added four goals to go along with three assists. Kelly Myers set a Stanford single-game record with 10 draw controls against a Vanderbilt team ranked fourth in the country in draw controls per game. It was also the second-most draws by an MPSF player this year. Meg Lentz held the nation's No. 7 point scorer Mallory Schonk (5.20 P/G) to no goals and one assist.
