No. 15 Stanford Wins Two on the Road

NO. 15 STANFORD (7-2 Overall, 3-0 MPSF) posted two MPSF road victories to stay unbeaten in the conference, 14-7 at Denver (Apr. 3) and 16-14 at Colorado (Apr. 5). The win over the Pioneers snapped their 17-game conference win streak, dating back to April 21, 2012. Stanford held Denver to one goal for the first 29 minutes of the contest, led on defense by Adrienne Anderson who held DU leading scorer Jill Remenapp to one point in the game and picked up three ground balls. Mackenzie Tesei had four goals, followed by a hat trick from Lucy Dikeou. In the win in Boulder, Alex Poplawski put away a career-high five goals, while Kelly Myers added a career-high three. Myers accumulated six goals, five draws, four caused turnovers, and three ground balls in three outings last week, including the Cornell game (Mar. 31).

USC (8-3 Overall, 4-0 MPSF) stayed unbeaten in the MPSF with a 13-11 outcome at Oregon (Apr. 3). Cynthia Del Core recorded career-highs of four goals and four points, while Michaela Michael also had a four-goal game. Michael added one assist and won five draws. Kylie Drexel added two goals and two assists. Amanda Johansen tied her career-high three assists, along with one goal, two ground balls, two caused turnovers, and five draws. Her career draw control total stands at 190, 36 from the current all-time MPSF record. The Trojans host Colorado and Denver this weekend in their home finales.

SAN DIEGO STATE (8-3 Overall, 4-0 MPSF) Christina Ricciardulli scored a career-high six goals and Sophie Koubek had the game-winning score with just four seconds left in a remarkable 13-12 comeback victory at Brown (Mar. 31). The Aztecs were down by six with 20 minutes left in regulation, and trailed 11-6 with 8:45 to play. Ricciardulli proceeded for three-straight goals in just over a one minute span to bring it to 11-9. Three ensuing goals put SDSU on top 12-11 with 3:45 left, before Brown tied it at the 2:43 mark, setting up Koubek's game-winner with just four ticks on the clock. It was SDSU's first-ever win over an Ivy League team. Ricciardulli added three draws and two ground balls, while Vickie Porter had two goals, three ground balls, and three caused turnovers. The Aztecs host Denver Friday (Apr. 10) and Colorado Sunday (Apr. 12) in MPSF action.

DENVER (7-3 Overall, 2-1 MPSF) MPSF all-time assist leader Jill Remenapp became the school's all-time leading scorer, in a 9-5 win over UC Davis (Apr. 5). She had one goal and two assists for three points, putting her career total at 274, overtaking Kara Secora at the top. Remenapp now sits at No. 2 in career points in MPSF history (Katie McMahon, UCD-321). Rachael McKinnon tallied three goals. Hannah Hook collected nine saves, allowing just five goals (.643). The Pioneers begin a four-game road stretch at San Diego State (Apr. 10) and USC (Apr. 12).

OREGON (9-4 Overall, 3-2 MPSF) Cambi Cukar tied her own 2015 MPSF-high six assists in an 18-8 MPSF home win over California (Apr. 5). She and Carly O'Connell each recorded eight points for the week, including the USC game (Apr. 3). O'Connell had eight draws, three ground balls and two caused turnovers in two games, including her fifth hat trick of the year on Senior Day against Cal.

COLORADO (6-4 Overall, 1-2 MPSF) Marie Moore recorded two goals, three ground balls and a caused turnover in the Buffs' first MPSF win of the year, 13-5 over UC Davis (Apr. 3). She went on for a hat trick against Stanford (Apr. 5). Blair Sisk scored twice and forced three turnovers against UCD. Paige Soenksen collected a 2015 MPSF-high 17 saves in the Stanford game.

UC DAVIS (1-9 Overall, 0-2 MPSF) Elizabeth Landry scored twice and Allie Lehner had three draws and five ground balls at Denver (Apr. 5). Landry's two goals gave her a career total of 137, climbing to 14th all-time in the MPSF, and eight away from the top-10. She also totaled 10 draws through this past weekend's games at Colorado and Denver, reaching 212 total, and 14 from the all-time conference record. Kai Murphy tallied 10 saves in a complete game at Denver. Melissa Kellan had four goals at Colorado.

ST. MARY'S (0-11 Overall, 0-5 MPSF) freshman Jocelyn Lubert scored a career-high five of the Gaels' seven goals at Lafayette (Apr. 1). She added five ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers for the week, including the game at LIU-Brooklyn (Mar. 30). Megan Zummo had five draws at Lafayette, and had a huge line in Brooklyn of five goals, one assist, three draws, five caused turnovers, and six ground balls.

CALIFORNIA (2-9 Overall, 1-3 MPSF) Gaby Christman and Bella Huther scored two goals apiece at Oregon (Apr. 5). Michaela Bird and Parker Garrett won three draws each. The Bears host UC Davis Friday (Apr. 10), followed by a visit to Fresno State Sunday (Apr. 12).

FRESNO STATE (3-8 Overall, 1-4 MPSF) was off last week and hosts UC Davis (Apr. 8) and California (Apr. 12) in its home finales this week.
