Air Force Sets Three Academy Records

No. 11 AIR FORCE recorded a season-high 427.350, the eighth-highest score in Falcon history, as it won its sixth-straight All-Academy Championship over Army and Navy (Feb. 13). Tim Wang recorded an Academy-record score of 15.650 to win the pommel horse, while Chase Cannon finished first on the high bar with an all-time program-best 15.450. Wang's score is the second-highest in the nation this season, while Cannon's mark is also ranked second. Wang also earned first-place on still rings with a score of 14.500. The Falcons accounted for the top score on five events, as Christian Kalustian won the floor exercise with a career-best 15.300 and Aaron Nubine scored a 14.750 to win the vault. Kalustian, whose 15.300 is the third-highest floor score in Air Force history, paced the Falcons to a new event record total of 75.600.
No. 2 STANFORD Ryan Sheppard won still rings (14.950) and shared the all-around title (84.750) to lead the Cardinal to a first-place finish (432.800) out of six teams at No. 3 Minnesota. Second-ranked Stanford defeated No. 3 Minnesota, No. 5 Illinois, and No. 7 Iowa. Gabe Flores was second on vault (15.150), and Brian Knott was second on parallel bars (15.200), third on pommel horse (14.650), and fourth on high bar (14.700).
No. 1 OKLAHOMA accumulated 447.450 as it took down No. 6 Nebraska (428.700) in Norman (Feb. 6). The Sooners swept the event titles for the fourth-straight meet, led by Kanji Oyama's all-around (88.600) crown. Allan Bower posted victories on pommel horse (14.750), vault (15.200, tie with Josh Yee), and still rings (15.300, career-high), as did Hunter Justus on floor (15.650, tied career-high), Yul Moldauer on parallel bars (15.900), and Yee on vault (15.200, tie with Bower). Oklahoma's best team score of the meet came on parallel bars, totaling 76.050, while winning every team apparatus.
No. 9 CALIFORNIA totaled a season-high 431.550, placing ahead of No. 11 Michigan for its first win of the year, in the tri-meet at No. 2 Stanford (Feb. 6). Kyle Zemeir posted career-highs on pommel horse (14.550) and high bar (15.550). Mikey Diliberto posted a career-best 13.450 on horse, as Cal scored a team total of 71.300 on the event. He was also solid on rings, posting a 13.700, and had the highlight of his evening with a 14.950 on parallel bars.
