MPSF Successful in Las Vegas

No. 2 STANFORD stepped outside team competition this past week, making way for individuals to vie for spots on the United States Senior National Team in the annual Las Vegas Winter Cup (Feb. 18-20). Akash Modi locked in a spot with a remarkable second-place all-around of 175.300. Modi placed second on high bar (29.950), seventh on parallel bars (29.100), 10th on pommel horse (29.250) and rings (29.050) and 18th on floor (28.550) and vault (29.400). Grant Breckenridge finished 13th all-around, putting up a career-best and ffith-place 14.700 on parallel bars. Robert Neff was just behind in 15th and a 166.800 overall score, placing fifth on high bar. Taylor Seaton had a 33rd-place finish, highlighted by a fifth-place vault (30.300). The No. 2 Cardinal is back in action Saturday (Feb. 27) at home in the International collegiate Challenge.
No. 1 OKLAHOMA freshman Yul Moldauer solidified a spot on the US Senior National Team with a fifth-place all-around (174.350), also the third-best amongst NCAA competitors. He was second on parallel bars (30.050), fourth on rings (29.600), seventh on floor (29.150), and tied for ninth on vault (30.050). Allan Bower placed 10th all-around (172.800), backed by a third-place pommel horse (29.850) and seventh-place tie on parallel bars (29.100). Kanji Oyama was right behind in the all-around with an 11th-place finish (170.400), posing a ninth-place rings (29.100) and 12th-place parallel bars (28.650). Levi Anderson took 16th all-around (166.800). The top-ranked Sooners host No. 4 Minnesota Saturday (Feb. 27).
No. 11 AIR FORCE Tim Wang finished in seventh-place on the pommel horse with a two-day total of 29.600 at the Las Vegas Winter Cup (Feb. 18-20). The placement marked the highest all-time for any Air Force gymnast at the meet, while becoming just the second-ever at the Academy to finish an event in the top-10. Wang added an 18th-place tie on high bar (27.650), along with 29th-place on rings (26.700) and 33rd on parallel bars (26.350). The Falcons host Illinois-Chicago twice this week (Feb. 26-28).
No. 9 CALIFORNIA Kevin Wolting finished 12th overall, posting a combined two-day score of 170.150, while Kyle Zemeir was 20th with a total of 164.550 at the Las Vegas Winter Cup. Wolting's best event finish was a tie for seventh on pommel horse (29.600 over two days). He was also eighth on vault (30.100) and ninth on floor exercise (28.950). Zemeir's best event finish was 11th on parallel bars (28.800).Cal competes in the International Collegiate Challenge Saturday (Feb. 27), hosted by Stanford.
