2016 MPSF Player of the Year
COURTNEY TARLETON - #1 - SENIOR - DEFENDER - USC
USC senior defender Courtney Tarleton (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood HS) commands the nation's most efficient defense. On pace to break the all-time MPSF single-season scoring defense record, the Trojans allowed a total of 92 goals during an undefeated regular season (NCAA-best 5.41 gpg), while holding their opponents to less than 10 goals in 15 games. Tarleton is the MPSF leader in caused turnovers with a school record 44 entering the postseason, including a 2016 conference-high and program record of six in USC's 5-4 win at No. 6 Notre Dame (Apr. 18). Her 44 caused turnovers ranks third in single-season MPSF history, while she is fourth all-time with 117 in her career to date. Her 34 ground balls this year also places her in the MPSF's top-10 all-time (141). Tarleton is USC's second-straight MPSF Player of the Year (Michaela Michael, 2015). She is the second defender to be named MPSF Player of the Year (Kelly O'Connell-Denver, 2008).
2016 MPSF Rookie of the Year
ANNA SALEMO - #6 - R-JUNIOR - ATTACKER - STANFORD
Stanford redshirt junior attacker Anna Salemo (Littleton, CO/Heritage HS) ranks ninth through the regular season in goals per game (1.94), and 10th in points per game (2.60), both MPSF-highs amongst first-year players. She owns 31 goals and eight assists for 39 points. She leads Stanford and shares an MPSF-best of four game-winning goals, and is second on the Cardinal in goals and points to help lead the team to a national top-10 ranking and No. 2 seed in the MPSF Tournament. Salemo has three different four-goal outings this year, including a game-high six points (4G, 2A) in a win over No. 16 Ohio State (Feb. 21). She was named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week following that effort, and would later be named rookie of the week (Mar. 21). Salemo is Stanford's third MPSF Rookie/Newcomer of the Year recipient (Anna Kim, 2011; Karen Nesbitt, 2008).
2016 MPSF Coach of the Year
LINDSEY MUNDAY - FOURTH YEAR - USC
USC Head Coach Lindsey Munday earns her second-straight MPSF Coach of the Year award, leading a program record 17 wins entering the postseason, and the first-ever undefeated regular season in MPSF Lacrosse history. USC is one win from the longest win streak in MPSF history, and three from the MPSF's first 20-win season. Earning its first MPSF Tournament No. 1 seed, USC is one of two undefeated teams in the nation entering postseason play, including three-straight wins over top-12 opponents in April. The Trojans have nine wins by double-digits, while holding opponents to under 10 goals on 15 of 17 games. USC scores a conference-best 14.35 goals per game, while it is on pace to give up a single-season MPSF record low total. On April 18, USC earned the MPSF's first-ever IWLCA top-five national ranking.
