OU's Moldauer Wins Winter Cup All-Around

YUL MOLDAUER OF OKLAHOMA MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK


Oklahoma senior Yul Moldauer (Arvada, CO) claimed his second career Winter Cup all-around title in Las Vegas, NV this past weekend. Moldauer tallied an 84.500 to top fellow national team member Sam Mikulak’s 84.450. He competed in Sunday’s event finals session, taking fourth on pommel horse with a two-day score of 27.150. Moldauer secured his U.S. Senior Men’s National Team spot after claiming the all-around victory on Friday. He has been a member of the national team for four consecutive years. This is Moldauer’s seventh career MPSF weekly award.

OU’S MOLDAUER WINS SECOND CAREER WINTER CUP ALL-AROUND
 
No. 1 OKLAHOMA Yul Moldauer was crowned the 2019 Winter Cup all-around champion with an 84.500 total, his second such career title…the win secures his spot on the United States Senior National Team through the 2019 US Championships (Kansas City, MO; Aug. 8-11)…Moldauer competed in Sunday’s event finals session, taking fourth on pommel horse with a two-day score of 27.150. …Genki Suzuki also retained his national team spot with a fourth-place 82.300 all-around.
 
No. 2 STANFORD Senior Grant Breckenridge competed at the 2019 Winter Cup in Las Vegas, advancing to the Sunday finals after posting a 78.550 all-around score in the prelims…He then registered the best improvement in score among all the finalists, turning in an 81.850 – Sunday's fourth-best all-around score…At the conclusion of the competition, Breckenridge earned the bronze medal in parallel bars (27.700), highlighted by a 14.100 in the Sunday finals.

No. 9 CALIFORNIA totaled a season-best 404.000 at home vs. No. 2 Stanford (Feb. 9), the first 400-plus score for the Bears in two years…Darren Wong tied his career-high with a first-place pommel horse routine (14.450) and set another personal-best and first-place all-around (81.350)…Wong also had a pair of 14.000 scores on floor and vault along the way…

No. 13 AIR FORCE Jonah Urlaub captured the title on vault, as the Falcons earned a runner-up finish at the All-Academy Championships (Feb. 9) in Annapolis. The Falcons tallied a season-high 402.900 – the ninth-highest team total in program history. Urlaub registered a career-best 14.500 – the sixth-best score in program history – to win the vault by 0.150 points…he also paced Air Force on the pommel horse (second, 13.800), still rings (second, 13.900) and parallel bars (seventh, 13.700).
