IAN GUNTHER OF STANFORD MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK
Stanford sophomore Ian Gunther (Houston, TX) was a triple-event winner at No. 16 Air Force (Mar. 7), taking first-place on the parallel bars (13.900), still rings (14.400), and pommel horse (13.800). He also finished in the top-five on high bar (13.350). Both of his rings and horse scores were top-five for Stanford this year. Gunther’s event scores helped the Cardinal accumulate a winning 413.100 in the meet. This is the first career MPSF weekly award for Gunther.

GUNTHER’S THREE WINS LEAD NO. 1 STANFORD AT AIR FORCE
No. 1 STANFORD scored a winning 413.100 at No. 16 Air Force (Mar. 7)…Ian Gunther was a triple-event winner on the parallel bars (13.900), still rings (14.400), and pommel horse (13.800), and finished in the top-five on high bar (13.350)…Blake Wilson recorded a pair of winning and career-high marks with a 14.500 on floor and 14.200 on high bar…All five of Stanford’s floor scores resulted in a 14-plus…Curran Phillips and Zach Martin shared the highest score of the meet with a 14.700 on vault…Stanford hosts California Saturday (Mar. 14) at 4 pm on Pac-12 Networks.
No. 11 CALIFORNIA recorded a season-high 403.100 on Senior Day in Berkeley against No. 7 Navy (Mar. 7)…Darren Wong won parallel bars (14.050) outright, shared first-place on still rings (13.850) and pommel horse (13.700) and took third-place on high bar (14.050)… Kyle Abe earned a career-best 13.950 on high bar, one of five gymnasts who all turned in career-high performances in the event, part of a season-best event score of 67.700.
No. 15 AIR FORCE tallied its second-highest team total of the year with 385.400 at home against No. 1 Stanford…Ethan Esval tied for third on still rings (13.900)… Scott McMurray tallied a season-high 13.550 to take fourth on the pommel horse, while Frankie Valentin and Esval finished fifth (season-high 13.500) and sixth (13.100), respectively…The Falcons close the regular season at Oklahoma Saturday (Mar. 14).
No. 2 OKLAHOMA was off last week…Gage Dyer competed in the Las Vegas Winter Cup (Feb. 20-22), and turned in a first-place performance on the floor exercise (14.650)...Combined with his 14.400 from the first day, Dyer’s two-day total was a meet-best 29.050…Dyer claimed top-eight finishes in four events, tying for fourth-place on vault (28.650), seventh-place on parallel bars (27.050) and eighth-place on high bar (26.550)…He finished in fifth-place of the two-day all-around standings (161.900), and claimed 12
th all-around on night one (81.300)…Matt Wenske tallied a 13.200 on still rings on night two.
