MPSF WOMEN’S FENCER OF THE WEEK
Stanford sophomore All-American
Joy Yun (Portland, OR) went 17-4 in saber competition in the season-opening Western Invitational at Air Force (Nov. 13-14). Yun helped Stanford to a 7-2 overall team record, the third-best in the 10-team field. She won two bouts against defending national champion Notre Dame and another against Columbia, who eventually finished as the top-two women’s teams in the field. Yun is the MPSF’s first-ever female award recipient in fencing.

MPSF MEN’S FENCER OF THE WEEK
UC San Diego junior All-American
Shawn Kim (Irvine, CA) compiled a 19-5 record over two days in the Western Invitational at Air Force (Nov. 13-14). He defeated all three rivals from Columbia, including Christopher Walker, a first team All-American and member of the United States National Team. The only saber competitor for the Tritons, Kim finished with a 4-2 record against the eventual top-two men’s teams in the field, Notre Dame and Columbia. Kim is the MPSF’s first-ever male award recipient in fencing.
