The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) has announced the addition of the California State University Fullerton Men’s Indoor Track and Field team, beginning with the 2022 season. While the Titan women have been members of the conference since 2014 and will compete in the MPSF Championships for the eighth time, the Titan men will compete in the championship meet in their inaugural season. The Cal State Fullerton Men’s Soccer team was the only other Titan men’s program to have previously been a member of the MPSF, spanning from 1992-2000.
“The MPSF welcomes the Cal State Fullerton Men’s Indoor Track and Field team as the newest member of our conference,” said first-year MPSF Executive Director Foti Mellis. “We look forward to the strong competition the Titans will add to our championship as we transition into a world-class facility.”
Scheduled to be contested February 18-19 in “The Podium” in Spokane, Washington, the 2022 MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championship is lined up for 14 teams--nine for women and five for men across nine universities from the Big West and West Coast Conferences. Joining Cal State Fullerton on the men’s side are BYU, Long Beach State, Portland, and UC Riverside. Those five schools will also compete in MPSF Women’s competition, in addition to Hawaii, UC Irvine, UC Davis, and the University of San Francisco. Live video stream coverage of the two-day meet will be provided by FloSports (

“First I want to think our senior administration, President Virjee, Vice President Oseguera, Athletic Director Jim Donovan and a special thanks to Dr. Meredith Basil for heading the committee to get men’s indoor started,” said Titan Head Coach Marques Barosso, who will begin his first season at the helm of the program and eighth year on staff. “This addition shows that our administration believes in our track and field teams and they want us to be competitive at every level. I am definitely looking forward to the championship and I can’t wait for our first indoor meet.”
The MPSF has produced nine of the last 14 Indoor Track and Field NCAA Team Champions on the women’s side, and 11 all-time. The MPSF men own six NCAA Team Titles, all in the last 13 years. This past Spring, the MPSF reached a unique non-power five conference milestone of 100 total NCAA Division-I Team Championships, dating back to its initial season in 1992-93. The MPSF has since upped that total to 101.
