Spartans Win Fourth MPSF Title; Face Stanford in NCAA Regionals

For the eighth time in school history, the San José State women's gymnastics team will compete at an NCAA Regional. This year, the team will compete in the Seattle Regional hosted by the University of Washington.
  • The Spartans were selected based on the team's national qualifying score (NQS) of 196.260.
  • San José State will compete against Stanford on Wednesday, March 30, at 3 p.m. inside Alaska Airlines Arena.
  • The winner of the meet will compete in the second session on Thursday.
  • If the Spartans do not advance, the two all-arounders and two specialists will compete on Thursday. Macpherson will compete in the first session, while Mazury, Kirsch and Milne will compete in the second session.
  • The top-two teams and top all-around competitor from the regional will advance to the NCAA Championships. In addition, the top event specialist in each event (not on an advancing team or an all-arounder) advance to the national championships (in that event only).

MPSF Championship Note:
San Jose State: Won the MPSF Title in all 4 events plus the all-around, the third team all-time to do so: (2008-UC Davis, 2003-SJSU).

DAVIS, Calif.—For the fourth time in school history, the San Jose State women's gymnastics team can claim the title of Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Champions.
 
The Spartans won the 2022 championship with a meet-record team score of 196.425, the third-highest score in school history.
 
Individually, San Jose State swept for the event titles and all-around title.
 
Vault – Kirsch is the fifth Spartan MPSF Vault Champion and first since Chelsey Andrada in 2018.
 
Bars – Mazury joins an elite club as just she and Shirla Choy have won an MPSF Bars Championship for SJSU. Choy won in 2003 & 2004.
 
Beam – Milne tied her school record with her 9.925 and is just the third Spartan to win the fourth SJSU Beam Championship – Amberly Klein in 2003 and 2004 and Marissa Umpingco in 2015.
 
Floor – Mazury is the sixth MPSF Floor Champion for the Spartans and first since Taylor Chan in 2017.
 
All-Around – Mazury is the fifth Spartan to win the MPSF All-Around title – Shirla Choy, 2003; Cami Guyer, 2015; Kaitlin Won, 2018; and Taylor Chan, 2019.
 
The floor team led the scoring with a 49.325, the fourth-best floor score in school history and the first time the Spartans received that score on floor in a meet.
 
The vault team closed the meet with a 49.050, tying for the fifth-best vault score in school history.
 
The Spartans await word about NCAA Regional competition. The official announcement will be made on Tuesday, March 22, at noon ET/ 9 a.m. PT on NCAA.com.
